Im suprised someone hasnt entertained this idea so far. How about a Male Pro vs Female Pro match on PPV.....Im not sure how many females tune in to the PPV matches but Im sure if its male vs female it might be a huge draw... Im sure there has to be 2 pros that would match up.

Who do you think would be a good PPV match up?? Lets hear it

I don't think the WPBA would allow this without getting something in return. I think most of those girls are owned.
If it could happen:
Kelly Fischer vs Bart.
Jasmin getting the breaks and a few games against SVB

Only an aging male pro could make this match interesting, I feel.
How about Nick Varner vs Kelly Fisher?

...just like the old Billy Jean King vs Bobby Riggs match.

Kelly still gets crushed, if they dont use a magic rack its even worse

Probably gonna get flamed but there is precedent. CJ Wiley beat Vivian Villareal on ESPN.

Oh yeah I forgot about that one............

And Mike Sigel beat Lori Jon Ogonowski (formerly Jones) at the very first IPT event. I was there and it was well attended with several bonafide stars. I came away thinking that this IPT was really going to put pool on the map for good this time. Starry eyed dreamers we were back then.

I heard that originally Allison was supposed to play Mike but she had already committed to the APA event that was happening at the same time in Las Vegas.

And of course there were the IPT matches that did happen. Kelly Fisher narrowly lost to Dennis Orcullo and he paid her a very serious and sincere compliment, "you play good".

Gerda Hofstaetter was ridiculed by Earl Strickland before their match and she beat him.

Lori Jon ran five racks of 8 ball in her set against Thorsten if I remember correctly.

Those were the notable matches but I don't think any of them were filmed.

That's a bit harsh.

They aren't owned. They can play any sort of exhibition matches that they want to play but they can't do it under the WPBA banner unless the WPBA approves it.

Kelly Fisher has taken down a few people over the years which the forum would have predicted she would get crushed. When she lived in Charlotte she had a pretty strong backer and anyone who bets on pool knows who he is. No one was barred from trying to make a game and some of the games that Kelly told me were refused were games that I am 100% positive that the forum would have tripped over themselves trying to bet everything they owned AGAINST Kelly.

And yet those players who were offered those games and their backers didn't want any part of it.

Not saying Kelly wouldn't need a little something against most top men but a lot of men were offered a game where they only had to give up a little bit and they wouldn't take the games from what I hear. And no, I am NOT naming names so don't ask me. If you know Kelly well enough you can ask her or if you know her backer you can ask him.

I PERSONALLY believe that IF Kelly had been allowed to compete full time against the men and she had the financial support to get seasoned then she could be in the top 20 maybe the top 10 or maybe even the top 5 if her mind is right. That faith will never be tested though so it's just pool fantasy talk at this point.

Reasons TAR hasn't done one is its hard/impossible to make an even match between a male player that will draw well and a woman player that will draw well. Women vs women do not draw well in general.

The women who would are Jeanette, Jasmin and Ga Young. Of those I dont see any of them playing Shane, Alex, Busty, Orcollo, Appleton or anyone in the top 20 even 10 ball or an all around.

The event that is maybe possible is mixed doubles. I think that would be pretty cool. You are back to doubling your expenses and very likely not doubling your income but its much easier to make an interesting match.

couple of years ago karen coor played johnny archer at turning stone it went hill hill.. im sure there could be a match up of some kind that would draw a larger female audience than in the past. it might spark more female/male matches for the future...... ya never know

The race in a tournament is much shorter and a woman has a better chance to win, but in a race to 27 like the TAR format, a top woman stands no chance against a top guy.

if it is to be on tar, they could do it like a race to 13 best of 3 sets...each day .There is always a way to make it an interesting match if you think about it

I think the only way to make it interesting is with a handicap.
