PPV Start Times

I know that TAR and other PPV streamers probably don't have much say to when a match starts and finishes. But I have to think it has to be a big problem when selling to even just the US time zones. I can't see why the matches on the Westcoast can't start earlier. A match in the US that's over after 4 am est just don't get it for me. People that pay for matches aren't all pool players that don't have jobs and families. Most need to get up and spend time with their family, go to work, or have other social events in their life the next day. Any match PPV should be over by 1 am IMO. I wonder how many more would have bought the stream if it started at 1 or 2 pm Westcoast time? Johnnyt

its hard to make every one happy.
the players have to come first.
they need to pick the time.
im one who will start at any time .
but not all players will.

I could not stay up the first 2 nights. But that was a lot of pool hours to watch anyway. It would have been nice, but i am not complaining.

It's a catch 22...damned if you do, damned if you don't!!! You got to remember though that if they had started at 6pm eastern then it would have been 3 pm there and many would not have been off work in that time zone.

But like Chris said it is ultimately the players choice and I am sure they want to play at their chosen respectful times. In all honesty, if I were betting $$$$$ then I would want to play at hours that are condusive to me getting the cheese than about Joe Blow being able to watch at his leisure. JMO:wink::rolleyes:

I give up. Johnnyt

At the end of the day it is up to the players.... but I agree, it was pretty late viewing for the EST folks this go around.

Johnny...just for the record your post is very valid...It would be great for TAR and others to choose these times that would garner the most viewers thus increasing the take. But again there is no stream without the players so inevitably it is up to them.

And as for the end times of matches, you have been around this sport long enough to know that there are too many variables involved to set a cap on the end time. Unless, of course, they change the format to fit the viewers preferences and we all know that is not happening as I would not expect it too...We all love sweating great pool and we do it for the love of our sport....:grin-square:

Chris is absolutely right. Can't make everyone happy, but for TAR matches, players' generally set the start time. There can be no PPV if players are not ready. Simple as that.

I guess, if you were putting up the 10Gs, you can call the shots too:wink: my 1.5 cents...

Don't give up Johnnyt, you can always enjoy the DVDs at your leisure:grin-square:

Yes I agree with most of what you said there. But one of these days PPV is going to be big enough so that the players won't have the final word. I hope. Johnnyt

Just my opinion,

I know that's all a forum is, but, I like to put it out there anyway.

If you want to watch an event LIVE, then you're at the mercy of your own time zone and the match start/time zone of the event that you want to see.

I've always been a big proponent of "bring me an answer along with your problem"...with that being said.

What if the original PPV streamers offered a significant discount ((definately NOT FREE)) to watch the event at a later point in time? A point in time that's convenient to the viewer.

Talk amongst yourselves. :)

I dig what you are saying but I think the after thought with TAR and some others is this...either watch or anticipate the DVD.....And I can't argue with that!!!

I have watched several events by TAR and still purchased the DVD's after....However, archiving files is not that far out even for some of the small time streamers...it is like discount days for whoever wants to watch...In essence, the time is coming for just this option...just whoever implements it first.

Accu-Stats already has it. $5.95 for one viewing $6.95 for two viewings I think the price is. Johnnyt

TAR usually run their own shows, sometimes they run long and late. Getting everyone out of bed and ready eariler would be a hard thing to do, ;)

The tournment streams are different, they are there when the tournment matches kick off.
