A friend is considering buying a Prather at the cost of 1200$.

Is the Prather cue Arthur worth the $?

Thanks in advance

Hi, a cue is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. If your question is if it´s any good - also depends on what the buyer think. I have tried Prathers that shoots good and bad. It´s a learning progress to understand what you like in a cue, play and looks and it will change over the years - great experience and loads of fun:).

Btw - I think you are from Sweden - like me:-). You can always PM if you would like and I can share more info on cues if you would like.

Take care and I hope your friend will be happy with whatever cue his buying!

If you want it buy it (I guess). I have an older wrap-less made for Muellers. I do not like playing with it. Do not care for the balance or grip thickness.

excellent cues

prathers knowledge of building cues and knowledge of woods are great, i build cues and have bought materials and cues from them. their cues and cue parts are excellent and doing business with then has always been a plesant experiance.

I had a bad experience in purchasing a custom cue from Prather. As a result of my experience, I would not purchase from them again. To be fair, the cue has good feedback and construction but was not built to my specifications. I was unable to rectify the situation with the Cuemaker, and that left me disappointed.

Although I have never played with one of Jeff's cues I can tell you that the Prathers are fine folks to deal with. Prompt service, and if it isn't right they'll fix it.

@TrampSteamer, sadly they were unwilling to fix the issue I had. But no one can be perfect all the time.

I played with a Prather for a long time. I bought it second-hand, not new. I really liked the way it played--- I have nothing bad to say about the cue.

Have you been to his website?

He made a custom butt for me this past year and I am extremely pleased with his work.

prather

i own 6 prathers cues and many other brands and makers and they usually have a hard tip and a light shaft and solid hit and their my personal favorite

Living only a couple of hours away from their shop I come across them pretty often. I've owned a few Prathers and still own one. They are well made and I think they play well. I don't always like their designs because my taste is a little more traditional. But they are made with the best parts and wood available.
