They sure look nice but I wonder how good the maple fronts are.
Are they tight grain?

Super nice blanks Kenny! I've got to get a full splice cue now. I've bought a couple small things from Jennifer Prather before and their customer service is top notch. I was treated like a high volume buyer.

Joey, My partner ordered a front from Prathers and specifically asked for a tight, straight grained maple front. He got exactly what he asked for. Great people to do business with.

Jennifer is the sweetest of all the hearts , an extreme pleasure to deal with ... She says she can't play but who hasn't heard that before ... that purple heart and ebony is WOW ... those will make some people very happy for sure ...

FLYINGSNAIL,
PM me a price for those blanks if you're interested in selling any of them.

Also, let me know a price for the completed cue (wrapless, just add a shaft, a joint and a hoppe ring) if you don't want to part with the blank.

Thanks,
Brian

Bri...when you get that PH/Ebony one, let me know how it plays! ;) :)

I've spoke with both Jennifer and Jeff...and they're easily two of the nicest people I've worked with in all my days. After emailing and speaking with Jeff...he says the 1915's can be made with any combination of ebony, rosewood, grandillo, bridseye & curly maple, purpleheart, bacote, cocobolo, and tulipwood. His blanks, with 4 veneers run between $240 and $320. If you supply your own wood (1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 24 for the butt end and 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 24" for the forearm), the price is $240. He recommends sending two pieces of each in case one isn't suitable...and he'll send back what he doesn't use. The finished 1915's start at $900...although he says the average is around $1150. I plan on buying a few blanks and giving them to one of my favorite cuemakers on this board as a gift...let him do with them as he sees fit. He's done a conversion or two on Davis blanks previously...and the finished product was excellent.

they're like 240$ with rosewood and veneers. Add 40$ for ebony and they offer 2 sizes in veneers like .030 and .040 roughly. I saw a few at sbe. The raw blank looked perfect but I saw a few finished blanks they had and there was a huge glue line in the miter between the veneers really turned me off to them. It was more than one. They claim points turn perfect also. providing there is no movement

If they had glues lines in the Veneers like you said above, they can't turn totally perfect can they now. I wonder if they would discount them if those problems occur during turning. I mean it can only be a manufactures defect as long as the points are straight.

I would certainly take your word for it and stay away from them also!!!

The ones Kenny has look fine to me. Mr. Prather uses the same blanks in his cues. The ones at the Expo last year were amongst the fiifrst he'd created. Everyone has hiccups. Ever see one of Carolina's cues from the first Expo compared to what they're putting out now?
Besides...I have no doubt if there WERE issues...he'd remedy the situation. :-)

There is a reason there are only a handfull of people making full splice blanks. By all means, make your own and put it on display for all to judge.

Jeff makes it look easy and he is one of the most under rated cuemakers in the world.

That is nice to know.

i am by no means degrading the work jeff does. i like the people at prather alot. however if a cue doesnt come out perfect or close to perfect no one should see it. quality not quantity. seeing them cues first second or 20th make me wonder if i spend 300$ on a blank will it be unuseable. i would never give that to a customer. now the ones posted looked pretty good. if the quality is that good now then why show the bad blanks. ive seen spain blanks with the same glue lines. doesnt make it right. someone ask for an opinion and i stated what i saw.

i will continue to buy most of my supplies from jeff. he is up there with the best

These blanks are gorgeous. Anyone know the construction process for those sharp rear points? Are they made with a tapered splice like the front points? I've been obsessed with this look since reading the Prather blank review:

I think those are beautiful blanks, and I'm sure every cuemaker has a few bad apples come out once in a while.
