Predator Revo shaft full review and deflection test

A bit graphic for the general populace perhaps, but it sends a clear advertising message..... that much cannot be argued.....

Well, it damn sure gets the point across, doesn't it?
The problem for me is that every time I hear the word Revo, I'll think of Sally, may she rest in peace.

Does a few pieces $35 chalk come with to cue. Then you will never miss. Maybe a $600 case to keep everything nice and warm. Johnnyt

I like this shaft more and more. Got 4th of 64 in $4500 added tournament this weekend. It was very humid in the room, shaft stayed smooth the whole tournament. I wiped it down with a towel once in a while from chalk dust (kamui gets all over). Gotta say, glad I bought this P3 Revo. 4th place almost paid for it :)

Congrats Cleary. What tip are you using? Did you try others on the shaft?

Congrats Cleary - sounds like your game is doing well. So many good pool players out there, it's hard to finish that high anywhere.

And the price tag is ? 3500.00 bucks is that correct ?
This thread has been quiet for over 6 months. I have been shooting a z2 for years, and just bought an SP Revo 2 for $900. It took a few days to get used to the feel of the shaft, but all the good things said about it are true (for me). I see almost no throw with this simple test. If I place the object ball 2/3 down the table and cue ball a foot from the near rail so that it's a straight shot to the far corner, I can make a kill shot with almost a full tip of side of English and the cue ball stops dead.

By the way, Predator sells a cue for 899 that comes with the ReVO shaft and it S so strong it needs no Ferrell, has the lowest deflection than any other shaft. Carbon fiber is not graphite....this is proved through testing. You do not have to pay 3k to try it. Go to the Derby Classic at the Horseshoe Casino and try it at the Predator booth for nothing.

Carbon fiber IS graphite!!!

That is what many do not understand about speed of shot when trying to use say BHE or any english or when trying to use the squirt say for TOI.

I have a modified Predator 314 CAT shaft that would cross the line in those soft & probably medium hits that he did...

& his firm hit is not that firm where I come from.

And how does he know what the shaft will feel like in years if they are new shafts?

He sells them! Tests like that might fool the beginning player, but not good players. That video belongs in the aiming forum with the rest of the smoke and mirrors. Johnnyt

:D
If you look on the predator website you will see that the Revo has a piece of carbon fiber that goes in the inside of the shaft and I considered an internal ferrule. It's called the vault plate...and the Vault plate is used on all the 3rd generation predator shafts as well.

Carbon fiber IS graphite!!!

Well...Yes and No:

The terms graphite and carbon fiber have become interchangeable to some extent. However, graphite in lead pencils and graphite in a tennis racket are obviously not the same material. The material that makes a strong racket is actually made of carbon fibers. Both graphite and carbon fibers are carbon-based; the differences lie in the process that produces the end product.

i shoot with a Z2 and i played with a friends 12.9 REVO for about 2 hours about 2 months ago. The 12.9 hit solid and had little deflection and liked the shaft except for the shaft size. When the 12.4 came out i wanted one because of the smaller diameter. To my disappointment the 12.4 does NOT play as good as the 12.9 IMO. IMO is has more deflection than my Z2. Needless to say i sold it already and went back to the Z shaft. Did anyone else have a similar experience ?

Not sure for the need to use IPA 90%. On my carbon shafts, I just recommend a damp paper towel/lens cloth with a very small amount of clean dish water. Ie water that has few drops of dish cleaning soap. A wipe down with the soapy water and a dry wipe down afterwards. Some paper towels are more abrasive than others, which is why I recommend lens cleaning cloths. Fine soft micro fibre cloths are ok as well. The real important aspect is to keep the chalk off the shaft. The chalk is very abrasive and will wear away the carbon composite over time. After chalking the tip, wipe the shaft down to get the chalk off. Kamui and the great white make up chalks as I call them, are great, because you don't get any chalk dust on the cue shaft. In saying that the Magik Russian chalk is also very good. So little is needed, and in using so little chalk, keeps the cue shaft clean. If you find that you have any chalk on your bridge hand, means you are either over chalking, or using the wrong chalk.
I notice that predator are calling it a ferule less shaft, but that carbon cap, is effectively a very short ferrule that is internally supported instead of the traditional externally supported ferule.
