Just a couple of thoughts. Mika blew it in the first match with the scratch in the side. that was a very careless shot.I thought he tried to act like it was a bad roll.Actually he had no business near that side pocket.now in the finals.its 6-5 Archer,Bustamante shoots the nine in Behind His Back. I know he does that all the time, but if he misses that ball its all over.Is this confidence or stupidity?

I missed all but the last 30 minutes.
I have to be honest, I thought that was one of the better presented pool shows I've seen on TV. I like the snippets of comments from various players thrown in. Plus JA & Django made it more entertaining with their comments from time to time. Nice to see the players acting human!

If he can shoot a behind the back shot with a make % as high or higher than using a bridge, who are you to suggest it might be stupidity?
Frankly, I think that mere mortals like us have little place questioning champions. There is a REASON why they are able to go out and compete and beat, the best players in the world. Shots that are low percentage for us are often high percentage for them.
Case in point. Earl's inside english 3 rail follow shot. This used to be one of his signature shots. If he hits it inaccurately, the balls jaws, and he leaves a Cosmo runout for his opponent. Is he "stupid" to shoot it? It really depends on how well he hits the shot, right?
By your reasoning, a beginner could call you "stupid" for drawing your cueball a foot to get perfect position on a 9, rather than doing a stop shot for an easier leave, and a little more difficult shot. To them, it is "stupid" to risk a miscue by drawing the ball.

Mika scratched in the side from a strange angle as I recall. His scratch against Johnny when he went two rails into the corner was inexcusable. And it cost him that match.
Mika Immonen has no class. After the match he said something to the effect of "I will be around alot longer than those guys, they need this more than me" It seems that interview after interview this guy throws his unwanted opinion in on things. He should take a lesson from john schmidt, johnny archer, thorsten hohmann, efren, etc. Those guys are truly great players (mika is good but not great) and are class acts in victory and defeat. I hope mika never wins another match.

I think Bustamante's comeback was incredible considering he was
a) playing Johnny Archer, a player that usually kills you when he's up 3-4 racks
b) this was alternating breaks, and usually you won't get any games off Johnny's break
All in all, we got 2 very good, well produced, entertaining matches. I enjoyed the commentary of Kim Davenport and Raj Hundal (I think putting Raj on camera and on the mic was an extremely extremely extremely smart move!!!)
I enjoyed the DP commercial, especially Mika's part - you can tell that he was on take #45 or close to it, his expression was hilarious, and you know he was just cracking up before he said his line - also you really get to see some of Toastie's "away from the table" personality shine through in that commercial. All in all, great effort, great pool, and FTR & for Russ, I didn't pay for these matches either, but I did pay my cable bill.

Couple of points. English is not Mika's first language. I doubt that came out the way he wanted it to. Read Blackjack's post about Mika's tv bit. I've never known Mika to bad mouth anything or anybody. If he ever had occasion to, it would have been after Corey Duel beat him 11-0 in the finals of the US Open. He blamed himself for not using his few {and they were VERY few} chances at the table for not getting out. Mika is a great player. You don't get his kind of record and reputation for being a good player.

I agree. Knowing Mika, he was probably making a reference to age and longevity as compared to Busta and Archer - and the fact that they have families. I do know that Mika would never say anything malicious - win or lose - or no matter how frustratingly horrible he played to earn that loss. Mika is one of the funniest people on the planet, and I am sure that there was some inside humor attached to those comments.

he seems like a nice guy other wise, I've met plenty of people like this in my life where they hate losing and they take every little detail seriously when it comes to competitioni but other wise they are really nice and down to earth people other than that... and thats how I look at mika.. a very serious competetive but nice guy
I watched the matches last night and thought Mika's comment was meant to be funny not mean. I guess it is all how you take it or want to perceive it. If you kind of don't like Mika you will probably think it was mean or stupid if you kinda like him or know him you would probably think it was funny. I think until you are able to actually talk to Mika and ask him what he meant by it - you should give him the benefit of the doubt. I also heard a lot of cell phones ringing during the matches. Which I thought was kind of wierd. All in all there were some great shots and some amazing misses. Nice to see they are all human.
