Problems with Pierce cues

That shaft is not warped.

I'm not agreeing with Jim at all in this situation and I hope you get your new shaft but calling the shaft warped for that tiny of a taper roll is a bit of a stretch IMO.

I guess if that's warped and anything slightly less than that is warped I've never shot with a straight shaft in my life. Darn.

Exactly what I was thinking. That looks like, maybe, a credit cards thickness. Maybe.

9-10 pro tapered shafts have at least much of a roll to them.

I have tried to make this rite since the minute I woke up to Johns crazy voice mail and rude txt.. I have called john 20-30 times and txt him close to 100 txt to try to take care of the issue and no response.. Here's what I have to offer send the cue back and I will build a new shaft and make sure it's perfect when it leaves here.. We can ship it to someone we both trust on AZ to check it out and then ship it to john.. I will pay for shipping from you to me and from me to the third party and pay for it from them to john .. Hope this sounds like a good solution . Jim

with all due respect, do you consider this to be normal behavior?

And fwiw, there's not enough love I could have for a cue to get me to want to keep it, let alone play with it, from a maker who motherfvkd me.

It's reality check time Mr. Pierce. Grow up.

The buyer agreed to a deal that included a new shaft, one would expect new to mean perfect.

The shaft has a roll and therefore is not perfect.

Everyone who wants to say how they play with shafts worse than this one and that all shafts have some kind of roll, I think you guys are being a little short-sighted and unreasonable.

The buyer, J-flo, imo, has an absolute right to expect a shaft with *no* roll. That's what he paid for.

This shaft has a roll, albeit a smallish one.

best,

I was never disagreeing with the fact that he should get a shaft to his expectations. If this isn't what he was expecting, he needs a new one or a refund to somehow resolve this.

I was just disagreeing with calling it warped with that small of a roll...

With all do respect Brian I didn't mother f him until after he went off on me.. So who needs to grow up??? And that shaft was absolutely perfect when I shipped it .. It's not now for whatever reason and I understand wood can move and I have no prob building a new shaft but how when I get no response.. Well thanks for listening

I got a cue from snowman34 here on AZ. The shaft was very loose like it had been cross threaded. Snowman asked how the cue was and I told him that i would probably have another shaft made cause this shaft was not what I expected. He said to send it to Jim from pierce cues and see what he said. So after jim looked at it he texted me that it needed a new tip and would send it back. Not sure what a tip had to do with the joint I said ok and contacted Snowman and requested a refund for the cue. He said that he would talk to Jim for me. The next thing I know Jim call me back and said he would make me another shaft for free. I said ok he said he had the rings already and it would take 3days and Jim said that for all the troubles he would plug the other shaft and re tap it so I would have 2 shafts. I said ok. So I get the cue back yesterday and I only got one shaft and a T-shirt. The shaft he sent already has a taper roll. I made a video and posted it to you tube. Jim is very immature and has sent me over 60 nasty test msgs calling me every name in the book. He has called me over 50 times and is now harassing me thinking that this behavior will make it better I guess. Here is the video, tell me what you think
http://youtu.be/aimdOPQBsu0
He is still texting me crazy Shit as we speak, pages and pages.

Not the first time he butchered somebody's cue. There was a thread here, probably deleted by now, where he destroyed a guys cue. I am sure people will remember that.

Anyways, that thread mentioned the same thing you did about crazy text messages and emails.

Taper Roll = Warp

Like New/Mint Condition = Used

Taper Roll is either warped because a good to great cue maker will not let a shaft be sent with a roll.

Would BMW send a car out with a slight dent?

I'm only going to waste one line of my time on a idiot like you the shaft was perfect when it left my hands..... Period.. Oops I guess I wasted two lines on you

You have the OP's address so why not send him another shaft. Be the bigger person here (as a business owner you should) and make this right whether he will contact you or not. I guarantee when he receives a great shaft he will come here and let everyone know you made the deal right and help salvage your reputation.

As far as reputation, you are the only one here with anything at stake. Your cuemaking business will likely take a hit but don't think any cuemakers are gonna research to see if the OP is nitty and difficult to please (and not saying he is at all) before they decide to work with him or not. It's now a he said.she said deal that offers nothing to either of you.

Have a nice day!!

LOL @ wasting your time on me. You have a reputation breh...

That is the last thing you need to do is worry about me.

My microwave is calling. Popcorn's ready.

Jim, do what you do best, which is making cues and stop airing you laundry for everyone to see. Make the guy a new shaft and call it a day.

Your never going to win on the internet and your cues are way to good for this kind of bs.

Take care

I agree with you 100%. This is the best advice for Jim.

Probably because this makes too much sense.

I have no prob with building a shaft and sending it to the OP.. But I would hate to send a shaft out with this ring work and it not line up when screwed to the butt..

Make a formal public offer to the OP and go from there since it's in public view anyway. Ask for the butt and a promised ETA of butt/shaft delivered back to the OP and meet the deadline set.

If he decides not to work with you on the extra shaft, then well, at least the forum knows you tried. Good luck to you both and I hope this gets resolved to the delight of both parties.

Pierce Cue

I have had several Pierce Cues, they all have played exceptionally well. I have had cues from top makers that have rolls in the shafts ( doesn't make it a bad shaft ). I just received a Pierce Jump Cue that is perfect in every way, he even followed up to make sure I got it and that I was happy.

I'm 100% confident that if you contact Jim he will do whatever it takes to please you, he is very dedicated to making the best possible looking and playing cue. In my experience his customer service has been top shelf.

This is unfortunate, I don't feel like bashing Jim or his rep is the correct way to deal with things. In my experience emails and texts can become heated quickly, sometimes its best to talk over the phone like adults.

I hope this gets resolved quickly for both parties involved.

It's hard to keep up when someone is talking out of both sides of their mouth. Is the cue for sale or not?

Earlier you said thisAnd nowAll of a sudden the shaft has gone from having a taper roll to being bowed. Please don't insult everyone's intelligence by telling us that the two terms are interchangeable. If you're going to embellish your story and claim the shaft is now bowed, I think you should at least try bending it some more first.

And since you are hell bent on damaging the guy's reputation, why not be accurate about how things escalated to where they are now between you and Jim. I mean, you do consider yourself an honest guy, right? Or am I mistaken?

While you're at it, if you are going to post text messages you received from Jim, why not post the whole conversation with your responses as well? Something to hide, perhaps?

Dude, at first I thought J-FLO was being a wiseguy when he said he would type slower for you so that you can keep up, apparently he really does need to type slower so you can keep up, I see now it was no joke, Im sorry for your short comings. Nowhere did J-FLO say he hated or disliked the cue, he said he likes the way it looks, h e s n o t h a p p y w i t h t h e s h a f t o r t h e c u s t o m e r s e r v i c e ....was that slow enough now???

For those that want to know and everybody that thinks they should chime in let me give you another point of view. Before you all go off your rockers lets get this out I am a great friend of Jim's.
I was with Jim when he first received the phone call about the problem from snowman. It was on the way to Vegas to play VNEA nationals. It was too late so he didn't call JFLO that night. Jim contacted JFLO the next day and found out what was happening and they made their arrangements while Jim was in Vegas playing in the tournament. Jim got the cue back and the shaft had been cross threaded as has been said. Jim made JFLO the new shaft which I was with him when he rolled before he sent it out (it was straight when it left Idaho). I saw that it rolled perfectly before he put in back in the McDermott case it was sent in and shipped it back. I am not commenting on the how it rolls now issue. The old shaft was worthless that is why it wasn't sent back. Not because he needed it for some other nefarious or cynical reason. From the beginning Jim did nothing but try to make it right for a customer of a customer! Jim only wants the best cues he can build out there. The thing that started this snowball of emotions was Jim waking up to JFLO's resonse to a friendly text stating "this deal is @#$!ed". That is the point when Jim became upset. He had tried to do everything he could do to remedy a situation and before he could even be told how JFLO thought the new shaft had been he received that response. Follewed by the youtube video and forum post. To say Jim doesn't care about his cues is totally mispoken. To not be upset when you put all your effort into trying to help someone and getting the shaft well maybe your a better man than I.
The extra shaft deal is between Jim and JFLO. He didn't personally give any money to Jim. Jim did nothing but try and help. The t-shirt was to taken as good token not some sort of replacement to anything.

LOL. :rotflmao1:

I'm sure the 20 to 30 calls and 100 texts you made were very friendly and helpful. I'm sure they are very similar to the multiple messages that you left me Jim. Similar to the messages that got you banned from this site, maybe??

Those of us that have had bad dealing with you are all to familiar with your form of communication and empty promises. By the way, it was really cool to discover the tape you used under the wrap you installed for me to help disguise your poor work. That, and the new ferrules that you installed by turning down the old loose ferrules and simple sleeving them over the old ones. Real quality work there Jim! We can add these two f-ups to the other botched work you did. Bravo pal.

Can't believe he didn't know how to repair your cue.
