Proposed TAR - TOI VS NO AIMING SYSTEM

PS..Us hardcore guy's, can always gamble among ourselves, at whatever game we want !..The pros don't mind playing 8 ball, as long as the $$$$ are there (remember IPT ?) And most of them play it pretty good too !..Plus, another added bonus 8 ball gives you Wil-ey..."TOI" will work as well as it does for any other game..! :D[/B][/SIZE]

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! :)

The problem with "the problem with pool" is that the diehard players and fans are the ones trying to solve it. They have no business trying to tell the public what they should like. Get everybody in the country interested in 8-ball again the entire industry will benefit. When the industry benefits, sponsorships will come along. When sponsorships come along players can stop hustling and living in their cars, and groveling on their knees for us to pay their entry fees and transportation, etc. They can live lives filled with dignity and raise families like the rest of us.

IMO CJ's whacked out notions are the very worst thing for pool. Thankfully he is probably as bereft in financial backing as he is in modern TV business acumen or his ideas might just put the "hammer stroke" on the heads of the last nails in the pool coffin.

FWIW there were two so-so pros playing a race to 30 8-ball out in Vegas this weekend that went almost 5 hours. Somebody said they were actually U.S. Open 9-ball champions, but I find that hard to believe since I heard one of them say, "This game is too hard."

Temporary Restraining Order !

All kidding aside, I am dead serious about my convictions (in post #1176) !..You may be the ONLY one young enough, and experienced enough, to pull off something like this !..I respect the fact, that you have proven yourself to be a successful businessman, and you have a good head on your shoulders. I sincerely wish you the best in your new business venture !

Back about 10-12 years ago, I was hammering away on a variation of 10 ball, and also 8 ball ! I sent Mark Griffin my concept. (which I will send to you, if you would like to see it) He liked my idea's, but didn't think the timing was right, and it kind of died on the vine ! But shortly thereafter, 10 ball (not my version) became almost as popular as 9 ball.

My theory has always been, there are probably hundreds of different pool games, played on half a dozen different size tables, with different pocket configurations (ie; snooker) I believe this has created an adverse effect, on promoting the game. How many different games are there in Golf ?, Tennis ?, Bowling ?, NFL ?, MLB, Ping-Pong, etc..NO other sport/game has managed to keep the general public so confused !.. This could well be a factor, why pool may never be considered for the Olympics !.. Which game would we play ?

PS..Share your email address with me, and I will PM you mine ! Two heads are better than one. (even if one is in advanced senility) Who knows, something good for pool may come of it ! :)

Yeah, I'm ready to call a cease fire. It's just been so tempting.

The guy can take it, but he sure can't dish it out.

"the game must be born again" - mosconi

Haha, it's funny to see such an ardent nine ball supporter quote Mosconi. :grin-square:

Let's face it, pro pool doesn't have a lot going for it right now. If pool is to become big, I think it will have to be via eight ball. We have however many millions of league players as a potential market. (and they're really the only potential market)

Why would we throw a game at them that they don't play and don't care about?

If the public cares about the players and can relate to the game being played, pool has a chance to be successful on TV. Nine ball on TV is something I won't even watch, and I might be one the biggest pool fans in the world.
