Can anyone recomend a pro around the Tampa Bay area that they have taken lessons from? Also the price if you would. PM me if you don't want to put it out here. Thank you. Johnnyt

IMO, you won't find a better teacher than Tony Crosby.

I know this might be the obvious answer but here goes...

Ray Martin or Benny Conway Sr. (The Goose). With any luck, their phone numbers are in the White Pages.

A few people told me that Ray moved out of Florida. Is this not true? Johnnyt

Hey Johnnyt,
Unless it was in the last week I dont believe so. Ray plays in our APA league and I saw in our newsletter that he had an 8ball break and run......Ron

OK, thanks for the info. Teach me to listen to AZ'ers lol. I'll give him a call. Johnnyt

McChen, the league Ray plays in is not APA, it's ACS. My team is taking a break for the summer season, but hopefully we'll be back in the fall to challenge again for 1st place. Ray's team has beaten us 2 seasons in a row by 1 point.

Is it seriously newsworthy that Ray Martin broke and ran an 8-ball rack? I can see the next headline now: "Pope is Catholic".

Sorry, that just struck me as hilarious.

the guy is like 80, i dont think he is super competitve so he should be able to play in a league. How fun would it be to play in a league with a legend

Exactly.

The guy won THREE 14.1 World Championships in the era of Sigel, Lassiter, Mizerak, West, Balsis, and Butera. He was still winning on the Florida Pro Tour and the seniors tours when he was in his sixties.

So where does a legend like Ray Martin play?

Anywhere he wants to.

Tony Crosby

I know he has been mentioned before on this thread... but Tony Crosby is a great instructor.

What is it that you hope to learn? Depending on your goals for this instruction, the teacher could we very different.

Hey John,
Ray does play in the Tueday night APA masters divison. He can only play the weekly matches, he is not eligible to play in cities or any higher level tournaments.......Ron

RonsTheOne...What a great thing for Ray to do! I bet the other league players enjoy having him in the league. That's a good way for any pro player to play in the APA...but few will, because, to them, it's all about the $$$, and there isn't any (for the most part) in APA!:D

Thanks Ron, I didn't know about him playing in the APA Masters. I was only familiar with his being in the ACS league at CM's on Monday nights.
