Now that you two have experienced a pro tournament, I was just curious what you learned from the trip. First, how your games stacked up against the "best of the best". Second, is there anything you will do for the next tourney you're invited to?

I gotta tell you guys something. I sent a little money to Trigger to help her out with expenses. Because she finished in the money, she sent my money back to me. What a classy gal! That's all I've got to say.

Yep, Trigger sent my money back also and I agree...very classy. Johnnyt

Trigger sent money back also, even when I original stated No Refund with the Donation.
Classy Lady, yes . Have you read Trigger Blog? There some nice write up about her matches!!

Thanks for the questions, Tim! Ash is flying back to TN today so not sure if she will be able to get online to answer today.

For me, I think I faired okay, mostly because I won a match, lol. :p No, actually, I think if I am mentally strong for any match, I will feel fine about my performance. If I am nervous, I simply don't play well. I now honestly feel it's the same for any tourney I play in - I will have the same emotions, this was just a bigger stage.

Obviously the players played better than what I am used to, but I admit that Jasmin didn't play that good against me. Megan Smith played much better, imo. I happened to have no worries or concerns when I played my first match against Kim White and played quite well and so I won. If I was playing that same way against Megan, though, I wouldn't have won b/c she was playing much much better than I.

As for next time, I don't think I will do anything different (if I ever get another invite). I think if the location is close again I will say yes and still plan to have no expectations and use it as another great learning experience to test my mental toughness.

It's a pretty tough gig, I admit! I won one match and was paid $600. For all those other 32 ladies that didn't cash, wow - that's an expensive trip!

I felt really good that I went - I was never interested in playing with the pros, but I knew the experience to play in the Women's US Open was priceless. I also know that in order to improve I need to experience more pressure situations, so I am SO glad those few friends pushed me to go.

I want to thank again everyone for their support! You all are amazing!

Thanks for the response Trigger. Also, just curious, if you had more notice do you think you would have done something to prepare for the Open?

It just would have given me more time to be nervous! :embarrassed2: No, I wouldn't have done anything different. I practice pretty routinely and had just played in the OB Stop the weekend before, so I felt pretty good about my time on the table leading up the event already.

Congrats on the experience and the seasoning. Hopefully, it will help steel your nerves for your regional tournaments since you have been on the largest national stage.
