There are a number of people who have questions for Matchroom Sports on the Point and ranking system they have adopted, the bar box events, eligible players etc.

Luke Riches of Matchroom Sport has agreed to an interview with me on American Billiard Radio to talk about some of the questions people may have and let us know more details on this years Mosconi Cup. Luke is open to and said he will not hide from any questions that people may have. Actually he asked me to get some questions from the AZB peeps. Please fire away with questions. I feel some may be duplicated as we go here but just worded in a different way so I will try and combine the pertinent questions.

Concerning the MC selection for US Team.

What will happen to an American player who finish in the top 32 of " the majors" such as W9BC, W10BC, All Japan Champ, China Open ?
Why are those tournaments not in the list of MC qualification for team USA ?
Does Matchroom ever consider team North America ( basically add Canada in the mix ) to make the competition more challenging ?

Regards,

Why are they team Europe and we can't be team north america. Seems they want it rigged in their favor.

We should be able to use Mexico and Canada as well. Are they afraid Alex would play? Always been my thought.

Luke, is it true that Matchroom, along with Elvis and Bigfoot, is on the set of the faked moon landing designing the Mosconi Cup point system in order to manipulate the U.S. Federal Reserve?

i'll ride your skirt B-B....

how's the pool/snooker business over there for yáll nowadays?

-What is the rationale behind including Barbox 7ft USBTC events included? F1 rankings do not include go kart events. No do FIFA football rankings include futsal events
-Why can't Matchroom decide whether it is race to 6 or race to 5? It has been alternating between race to 5 and race to 6.
-Why was Thorsten not included in Team Europe in recent MC even though wildcards can be used to include him?
:D

Tell him congratulations for starting/creating and implementing a points system to create World interest. On the production side, make sure the sounds of the balls being pocketed can be heard, much like the sounds one hears when the golf ball enters the cup in Major PGA events. Also, be very aware that the graphic overlays within the programming, do not cover up players hands and feet during the shot and while walking up to the shot. Also, the camera men working the floor, I'd recommend having communication between him and a Player that knows where he should position himself well before execution. I've worked in three control trucks over the decades watching and implementing ideas on program improvement, and boiler plate over head camera shots Don't give the feel of play and diminish the product. The clarity of your internet production is ''thee best'' and clearest I've ever seen, even the chalk and dirt are noticed. Keep up the good work. Wish I could be in Vegas ta see the show.

I have to say that after all the comments on this topic in other threads that I would have expected more questions. Where did everyone go? Now is your chance. Looks like I will be doing the interview today in a few hours.

I felt the same....what time does the interview begin?

I felt the same....what time does the interview begin?

I will be doing the interview at 12.00 noon AZ time. The interview will not air until Thursday at the usual time. It's just how the schedule works best for Luke and for ABR.

OK I asked a "fake" question earlier - here are some real ones.

Why was the change made to the selection system this year? Does Mark Wilson support the change?

How do you go about selecting points events? Is it difficult to find events?

(Edit: It may be too late for this one, but I'd like to ask if Luke would consider making the World 9-ball Championship a points event.)

All questions so far have been taken on board and I will be going through by name the people who have asked the pertinent questions. Schedules have changed and I mixed up dates and so the interview won't take place until Thursday. So still time if you have any questions.

There was a MC, probably 2 years ago, where the break rule is :
- small break box
- 9 ball on the spot
- no cut break
- players, in a gentleman agreement, will break hard
- no illegal break a.k.a the 3 points rule

The rule proves to be very effective in the sense the layouts after the break were usually tough and we had a bunch of exciting matches.

Why Mathroom stop using this break rule ?

In my opion, the 3 points rule is somehow unfair when the guy breaks hard, makes balls and still gets an illegal break. Matchroom should get rid of this rule and ask players to break hard.

who is MatchRoom's target audience?
why are yáll not marketing in the USA & on AZB?

i know that our attendance is 50 of 600 @ Vegas. (2 of 1000 in BlackPool.) but there are more herein who want to view it & have adamant opinions on how it should be run.

what were your (Sky's) PPV viewership #s, per country, for the past 3 Mosconi's?

To clarify & simplify her post:

Who are your top 5 country viewerships?
Why is it, that the USA is such a small market for the Cup?
