I saw Bill Johnson with 5 different carom shafts for one Dieckman butt?

So How many shafts for one carom cue butt do you use??

Three shafts exactly the same. I used to be a one shaft man but had my tip fell off which ruined my billiard session. I have two shafts now as back up. Also have a 3c shaft for the same butt which is a little longer.

i got 15 shafts for my 3 schuler-jointed carom butts (including small games shafts, 3 cushions, pool, snooker shaft)

The cues I've had made, I ordered 3 shafts.
Triple Redundancy, guards against Murphy's Law regarding popping off tips when it matters most.

Dieckman argued with me for a moment, then agreed to build a 3rd shaft. He didn't enjoy building shafts.
In the end, he was thinking of contracting a competent builder to supply shafts for his butts.
