Quote for a new TAR website

I want a new website. It must have a video on demand capability with an option for people to buy monthly and yearly memberships in addition to single video purchases.

Ideally it will be a site that I can do basic updates on myself. I will convert all the video files to the required specs and get them uploaded I need someone to build the site itself

I am not tire kicking here. I will pay and I want to get this done. Please do not send me a message saying your buddies roomates uncle knows a guy....I am looking for direct quotes on price and time line. Please pass this to developers you know and have them submit a quote.

Hey Justin,

Have you looked into the bandwidth costs? I would strongly consider the amazon services AWS and EC2 for your hosting needs. I don't know how much traffic you receive and plan on receiving but the infrastructure to handle the bandwidth is the biggest hurdle. I would break the site apart into three sections:

Design
Backend
Infrastructure

If you want something that is going to scale nicely and perform top notch you don't want someone inexperienced. The cheapest route (IMHO) is going to get a designer to create your layout and mock up how the functionality works. Find someone who has experience using preexsisting software that you can purchase or use open source and utilize that as much as possible. Then use a service that isn't going to require you to manage hardware and is going to scale to your needs. (Like Amazon)

I'm not sure I would be the right guy (I have many time constraints at the moment). I would be willing to talk with you over the phone and help you frame out specs that can allow you to get what you need the first time.

I am sorry if this is kind of offtopic. But does this mean that we can view past TAR matches on the new website if we pay the right amount? Just like accu-stats? (pay for instance 20$ to view the entire TAR #13 once)

That is a very cool site by the way as you very well know. Have you talked to those guys to see if they will tell you who built the Panteo site. I would expect that they would pass that on unless it was totally in house. I do not see TAR and Panteo as competitors just the same biz model. I will ask a web guy I know if he know others who do such type work.

I am a shooter. Have been since I was a kid. There is a lot pool can learn from the gun industry. For instance the fact the gun industry has had self financed weekly shooting and hunting shows on cable for the last twenty years and has now broken into the mainstream with shows like Top Shot.

The fact that because you see a training website and automatically jump to the conclusion of doomsday prepper made me wonder then I saw your location and it made sense.

Based on my research that is exactly what I need. Host the videos on Amazon, payment through paypal. Where I am stuck is the monthly/yearly membership and securing access to the videos. All I want is the same thing every porn site on earth has I just want to fill it with pool content.

I appreciate all the suggestions. I am looking for quotes. I did a thread similar to this months ago and got nowhere so now I am offering cash money to someone who provides what I am looking for. To those who posted serious replies I thank you.

If you have not consdered joining LinkedIN, www.linkedin.com and then posting a Job for your company, this might expand your search, beyond the sphere of pool players.

Sorry Justin, i didn't mean to piss you off with a little humour. Please accept my apology.

My only advice would be to be careful who you hire because you might get someone who could give you something along the lines of what you want that could end up working like crap because they're just some shmo who read a couple of how to code books.

I have a question though and you can ignore it if you don't think it should be asked in this thread but can we expect better quality streams along with the new site? I'm not talking about production quality or anything of the sort because you all do good work, but just stream quality, i'm a big fan of online gaming as well as pool and their tournament streams have come a long way in the last couple of years with stream quality in the HD realm for those who chose to spend more of their bandwith to watch such quality.

lol im just kidding around :) This site seems to lack humor these days lol i actually would join that site too!! I also actually built the biggest hunting web site for canada about 15 years ago in my spare time for the fun of it. i received emails from a lot of the people in the industry congratulating me too. Then someone stole the name,idea,etc and registered it. I had built up over 400 web pages on the site, it was big and covered everything.

Although not answering your question, I'm going to give my 2 cents like everyone else;)

Please make sure that if you go ahead with this, its not flash based, and will work on any iOS device. There are plenty of porn sites that work just fine on iOS devices. Not allowing this functionality on a brand new site redesign would be severely stupid, in my opinion.

I enjoy all the things you have done for us to enjoy pool more, I would love to get TAR on a " on demand " format. I hope that its with someone else other than audiovideo.com. I purchased the Bar Table event back in the winter and didnt get to watch ant of it because it would not load, then Tues. I purchased the 8ball replay . I hoped it would be a different provider or it would load this time but again it would not load and I didnt get to see any of it. I have both Google Chrome and Firefox installed and can watch anything else. So my hope is that you will be able to use someone else that's more user friendly.
