Raffles

Adam, I agree completely.....that is until I become desperate myself and throw in a few raffles. LOL :)
When i see this, i will know the industry is in the dumps......

Hey Adam, I agree completely with having the raffles in there own section. The notion that they will be in some obscure section is unlikely as AZ has added many features in the past and most have been accepted and used so I see no issues with it.
Good Idea IMO,
Dan
The best idea...........:)

This is a good idea, Adam. However after aaaaaaaaaaall these threads regarding raffles why had not yet been a poll created about the raffles. That would end all these rethorical questions like "How many are unhappy with raffles how many are on this board" and we could get a clear on what the members on this forum truly want.

Hell I'll go and make this POLL now.

How about anti raffle people stop posting in raffle threads
Maybe we neeed a anti raffle complainers section
The raffle threads do not belong in Wanted/ForSale section as they are not sales.... they are raffles.

I am sick of people that break the law telling others what to do. As I see it, rafflers have NO RIGHT to tell anyone on this board squat!

STOMP OUT RAFFLING! I am beginning to like that stance best of all.

It appears some people enjoy selling/being via raffles. I'm happy if your happy :) and I would never suggest wiping front to back or vice versa , HOWEVER, some of the hot raffle threads have been bumped apprx. 20 times per day as a result of inane banter between the OP and "number" buyers among other communication. As a result sell/buy threads are pushed down the que and off of the "front" page very quickly minimizing their potential.

If raffles are here to stay (IMHO they should be, unless........) they should have their own forum so some semblance of order is restored to the "for sale" forum.

Your input is appreciated
I agree with you. The wanted/for sale section is very cluttered with raffles and threads that should be in other sections.

I don't have a problem with someone wanting to raffle a cue or case and that's certainly their business and not mine, but I think it would be better for the forum if all of the raffles were put in a separate section. The idea that they wouldn't be seen doesn't make sense since anyone who was interested in getting in on a lottery for a cue they can't afford to buy straight out would surely be able to read the menu and know to look in that section.

You can be the first person in the anti raffle complainers section.

Maybe we can just call them SAFFLES and everyone can be happy

Wow I bet you said the same thing about black people too... They have no business telling us what to do ... Use the same bathrooms as us or doctors and dentists or even come in through the front door ... Excuse me but this really makes you look bad ....

I'm all for a raffle thread myself I get tired of seeing some of you cry about it all the time ... Though I'm sure many do appreciate the free press you are giving to raffles ... What scared me the most though is how loud will some of you cry when you see that the raffle threads get more action then the over priced wanted for sale section here ... I'm sure rafflers would love to get away from the the fussing and fighting ... How some are accusing other cue makers of selling cues that are nothing more then 8 dollar house stick conversions ... Of possibly buying house stick conversions at high inflated prices ... I'm sure many are tired of long waits and going ignored or even getting cussed out when they ask about a cue that they ordered years ago ... Or paying for something that they never recieve ... I have heard several of these complaints here but the worst complaint I have heard about raffles is that they bump the wanted for sale items down to fast ... Now there are some that want you to believe worst but to date no one has got ripped off or treated rudely in a raffle as they have before raffles came along

Heck the truth is that raffles are not killing the Wanted for Sale section heck some of the cue builders are doing that all by themselves .... Raffles are just a reason or something to point a finger at... Yes thier are many very good cue makers on here I have found several ... Jimmy Lee , Leon Sly , Joe Baker and Brent Hartwell are a few that I have dealt with and would recommend to anyone ... Eddie Wheat , Joey and Masonh I have talked to via this board or phone and would recommend and I know there are many more ...But it only takes a couple to do bad or wrong to a customer and it spreads more then the good work of a 1000 cue makers ... Now you may not like this post but it is the truth and well that is all I have to say about that ... :D

Life is like a box of Chocalates you never know what your gonna get till you look inside ... According to some of the aguements on the boards of late that seems to be true of some of the cues being built and sent out here on AZ of late ...

Far from it

I grew up tending to an 85 yr old black lady named Clara Best who lived in a ramshackle 70 year old garage apartment behind the apartment complex my parents managed for a very wealthy lawyer. Her rent was $35 /month until we started managing the complex and we got the owner to drop her rent completely. I made it my job to check on her every day and go to the grocery store whenever she would let me to save her from having to go out. I sometimes would go and sit on her bed with her and watch TV with her to keep her company. She even had a pet white chicken she kept in a big cardboard box in the apartment. Thanks for reminding me of my childhood upbringing. When I gre up the N word was everywhere.... we referred to African Americans as Negroes back then. Those were some great times with real honest hard working law abiding people. You don't know me at all.

The King,

I know what you were getting at. But I think the first two sentences in your post were unfair to say the least. I don't see where a opinion on raffles has anything to do with race. I think a appology is in order. IMO

That makes absolutely no sense at all.

I am curious why, when someone states an opinion that questions raffles and the issues they create, you compare them to a racist?

Your correct ...

All I had to go on was your first impression on that strong post you made...Kudos to you for helping someone out and doing the best you can to make thier lives more comfortable... You seem to be lumping all of us pro -rafflers into the same group and not as individuals fact is you don't know us at all either ... For the most part I have stayed out of the anti raffle threads I think it serves as a way to give the raffles more exposure and I am content with that. I am not here to argue with you or debate rather raffles should be moved or not ... I will go along with what ever the site wants to do . And I just want to be able to get along with everyone that I possibly can ... I love cues and buy alot of them I am try to pick out cue makers who I think are and up and coming and build a good product and are easy to get along with ... Just watching these threads has already taken several cue makers off of my list of guys I would want building a cue for me ... In the end we are the customers and most of us don't make a living buying and selling cues .. I know I don't and I love to buy more then I could ever sell...

Thank you

LOL..Really ...

The way I read the post is that because I support raffles auctionguy feels I have no right to an opinion or to say anything about them... As auctionguy says.

"As I see it, rafflers have NO RIGHT to tell anyone on this board squat!"

Funny that you don't see the comaparison ... It is what the black man was told for years ... you have no right to vote .. You have no right to have a say in anything ....

Again if you don't see the comparison I'm sorry but to me I see it and feel it ...

To raffle or not to raffle is a conscious decision. Because you like raffles doesn't mean you are enduring the political hardships of an african american particularly prior to the civil rights movement. Your never going to be lynched for stating your opinion on raffles... Whereas it is not entirely uncommmon for ethnic minorities to be killed for stating their opinions.

Ever been physically assaulted for stating your opinions on raffles?

So no... I don't see the comparison.

Do a little research and you might find that the incidence of rafflers creating completely new threads for the same cue to reduce the price of the raffle has begun. Monto P2 has 5 threads out for 2 cues just since yesterday. He is now asking people to just PM him directly if they want to raffle on both the cues together so as not to further clutter the board. Kudos for that, but now, that is taking it to whle new level of issues that could arise from behind the scenes transactions and problems. My whole premise on this is that if AZB cannot separate them due to legal ramifications, then there should be none at all. If AZB board owners want to step up and create a new area for raffle only... I am all for it... but it ain't gonna happen like that because raffles are illegal and no amount of name calling ( call me whiner, complainer, whatever... i don't care) is going to change the facts. They are not going to separate the two (I wish they would), so my vote is eliminate the raffles or change the laws. Can't make it any clearer.

The Dude ...

Now you don't know that yet ... It is possible that it could happen just because it has not yet does not mean that it won't ...lol... Some of these AZ'ers can get pretty upset ... I've seen pictures of cues and guns being posted on this site ... AK 47'S and the like to me that is pretty intimidating ...

Auctionguy as for the raffles being taken behind the scenes I agree that is wrong but at the same time AZ'ers are and should be smart enough to know better... And I also think there should be a seperate thread for raffles and I think that it would do better then the wanted for sale section for the reasons I stated above ... Your entitled to your opinions no doubt just as everyone else is entitled to thiers ...

I have an idea that might work.
How about a new forum area "Cue auctions, trades, etc. " ??

They won't be condoning anything like raffles and it could be a place where major bumps for auction bids, r signups, and trades could take off.

I have 5 cats I take care of so I know there are numerous ways to skin a cat.

You're not so unreasonable after all!:D

Raffles are legitimate sales, too.

Actually, they are not...but this has been posted aleady. In most states of the US, raffles are only legal when hosted by a non-profit organization, registered with their state's Secretary of State, and then a permit must be applied for. You need to go to your state's legislative website and do a search for the statutes.

Did you read my reasoning? Would you like to respond to my reasoning? They may die off anyway, but banishing them to some distant part of the board with lower traffic, and less appeal to new traffic will definitely have a negative impact on them. And they are very popular at the moment, both with buyers and sellers.

So, you're implying that a 'newbie' is smart enough to find a Wanted/For Sale section...but not quite smart enough to locate a Raffle section...you're kidding me, right?!
