In the NZ 8ball champioship thread, I noticed no rail markers.
Anybody play on such tables?
What do use for a diamond system?

When do snooker players play a bank shot?

I've only watched a handful of snooker matches but I don't think I've ever seen a bank or kick.

Banks are not very common in snooker but I would guesstimate you see one attempt every 3.5 games.
Kicks however are very common and you will see approximately 1.7 kicks per game.

You Americans have it too easy with your diamonds and huge pockets... :-)

I've not once come across a snooker, E8B or C8B table with diamonds. They aren't needed. I've messed around with kicking and banking systems but never really trusted them when it mattered. I've always reverted back to judging it my self and experience.

Its worth mentioning that snooker players, well the top players, are among some of the best kickers I've seen. You will often see in a safety battle at least one great kick. They often have to kick at just one ball as to not leave an opening and not only that its usually dead weight just nestling onto their intended ball. They simply visualize the shot ridiculously well. Proof that kicking and banking secrets aren't needed.

I noticed the head string is marked and assume there is some spot or reference for the racking. Break 'em and have at it.

Actually, the diamonds are well employed in playing position.
You really should learn how to use them.

FWIW - the rest of the world has diamonds on their tables.

My position is quite alright without diamonds, thanks.

That is correct, the NZ tables do have clean rails. They do not have the cheater dots or marks as they are called here. The snooker tables have different pocket sizes and ball sizes to an 8ball table. So the rail is at a different height usually as well.

In 3 Cushion Billiards, a player obviously in most instances is 'kicking' we call it banking a CB 3 cushions or more. With that being said the accuracy is much more needed than a 1 or 2 cushion kick on ANY pocket table. There's NO question, IMHO, that the spots are essential to 'Professional' play of cue games! Especially in 3C where the, 'TOP' players are trying to control ALL 3 balls!
