Raj "Rag" Hundal strikes again

from what ive heard about him, it appears to be that he is a gentleman and a good ambassador for the game, go look at some michael jordan quotes, he was just as confidant in his game as raj is and at times it can come off at arrogance, but when you are as good as either of these 2 players its hard to be anything but confident.

There is one big difference between Michael Jordan and Raj- Michael Jordan WAS the best player in the world and in most people's mind he was the greatest basketball player ever. I don't recall Jordan being too arrogant in interviews and such- yea, he talked a little(lot) trash during the game, but I don't think there was a need to let everyone know he is better then so and so, and so and so can't ever beat them. I don't have anything against Raj or his game, but maybe you should have compared him to Reggie Miller instead!

Raj has a mouth on him for sure. Very full of himself, if that's what you call arrogant, you are spot on.

Most top athletes are VERY SURE of themselves and appear arrogant.

If he can walk the walk, I say let him talk the talk. :D

Listening to him, I don't know of anyone else who can talk a blue streak like Raj does and he articulates many things very accurately. I wonder if he talks during a match like Earl does? He sure can talk on an interview. I don't think I have ever heard anyone talk as much as he does. :D

if hes so good lets see him win something. He gets beat by imran majid every time they play and all raj can do is complain about the break. He says soft cut breaks are for sissies, he reminds me of a banger who complains when u play him safe. if you dont play the way they like then your not playing "real" pool. If you dont break hard then raj thinks your a sissy. he said something about wearing lipstick if your gonna break like that. He just put down every american that uses the cut break. thats why hes an Ahole.

and btw hes 17th in standings on the GB9 tour right now. Hes not even in the top 10 and he wants to step up and play with bustamante and the others on the guiness tour? He spends all his time crying about the break instead of actually winning.

Oh wow you even know why his parents lefy their motherland for the UK. Amazing. Shame on him for representing his homeland and not asking for your permission.

i never said he had to ask my permission i just said i didn't like that he did it. all i'm saying is that the UK is why he plays as well as he does the UK is the reason he's as well off as he is. i'm guessing his parents didn't leave because of overwhelming prosperity

I know Raj, and as Jay mentioned a lot of what he says is tongue in cheek.

It is hard to take the guy seriously a lot of the time as he does like to have a bit of fun :)

Nowdays i see India as Raj's country. Can someone tell me why is that as he is not an Indian national nor he has ever played in India. As far as i know he is a british national.why not he plays for England?
Does he want to play in guiness asian 9 ball?If so than he has to win Indian national championships,Than only he can represent India there.

Imran has beaten him the last few times but I'd wager that Raj has a winning record against him. The cut break is a very hot topic among top professional pool players. A lot of them don't think it is good for pool, Rah among them, and they all have a very valid point. The majority of fans do not like watching it.

If in baseball they were to figure out a way to bunt a ball everytime and get on base the majority of time, would this make baseball less exciting? Of course! Fans want to see the homerun. I want to see a guy hit the balls 25+mph, park his rock and pocket 3 balls.

And he made a joke, about people who cut break also wear lipstick, while in the UK... and you say he put down every American who uses it? Ahh yes, I must have forgot again that the rest of the world revolves around America.

And I want to see a guy run racks! Forget the alternate break!

Nothing in there that hasn't been said before. Raj is a champion and when he plays on the Guinness tour he will only get stronger - and he knows that. Much to do about nothing. Whether people agree or disagree with his comments, you have to respect his honesty and forthrightness. Raj is a good guy and a very marketable commodity, humble he is not - but he talks the talk and walks the walk, which is a lost art these days.

Pretty good break shot here, and not soft either! The balls are spread all over the table, with many balls down table.

But I've seen Raj hit em hard, and on this break he used about 35% of his might! :D

Also, he took a cut at the rack there... Imran may be hitting them a bit softer, but is getting very similar results, three balls past the headstring and all that...

Raj is a Great guy, He does come off a little cocky but that is who he is.
After watching him play recently, his game has improved a lot and I dont think he will fear playing anyone on the guiness asian 9 ball tour. If he plays anything like he did at Turning Stone where Bustamante quit when Raj got on the hill at 8-3 he will do fine. He is still in his early 20's as well so he is going to improve.

I have known him for a long time love or hate him he is a great player to watch.

I dont know about a majority of fans not liking the cut break. I like to see racks strung together i dont care how they do it. The problem with raj is that in every interview he does he has to b!tch and moan about the break. hes the only pro that i can think of that does that. If hes a pro then he should act like one. You mentioned a bunt in baseball and your right its boring. but you dont hear pitchers cry about it after every game they play do you? no because they find a way to defend it. they man up and play by the rules instead of crying about them.

People know the rules going in but they still find a reason to blame someone else when they lose. Man up and play.

and i agree alternating breaks suck.

Raj beat Imran last time he met him in GB9 tour and Raj is also ranked no 2 in the main tour. The lad is great player and improving all the time and he is a gentlemen on and off the pool table. So TXsouthpaw please do not disrespect the lad by call him names and i think most off the pro's reading this will agree that your are the A-hole in this thread. by the the way he has just beaten Jonny Archer at the 14.1 WC and that says it all.

I do hope that the word RAG is not refferring to Raj's bandana (head gear). The lad's religion is SIKHISM and his religion requires him to cover his head. He would wear a turban but that would limit his playing ability just like Monty Panesar in cricket. Please refrain from using the word rag as it is offensive and you could end up with a lawsuit for discrimination against you. Personally if Raj found out who you were he would shove his cue down your throat.

I know Raj and he would never destroy his own cue risking getting blood all over it. As the gentleman he is he would probably ask the guy if it was ok to use HIS cue for shoving it down the throat :)

i agree, i think the problem is a lot of people (non-religious) just wear them for their look and it can look a bit scruffy (some biker's wear them for example) so people call them a rag. and the problems then come when people call a sikh's headgear a rag...

Please forgive my ignorance, but is the headgear he wears traditional Sikh headgear?

To be fair, it does look more like a do-rag than a bandana.

Bandana

Do-rag

If this is traditional Sikh headgear, then I think it'd be nice if we call it whatever the proper term is. If it's not, and he's just choosing whatever headgear he likes to comply with Sikh custom, then there is a little bit of a difference, in my humble opinion.

Just thought you should know, though, that there is a similar headgear worn for non-religious purposes that is commonly called a do-rag, and I don't believe it is a derogatory term.
