Rangers and Pool

I'm new to the site but I notice there are plenty of Rangers here, and a noticeable respect for the military. It is interesting that this would be so prevalent on a pool site.

There are probably a few more than you think... not everyone uses a variation of "Ranger" in their username....

Military men probably play more pool than the average person and there also seems to be a higher percentage of retired military personnel on here from all branches than might be found on some forums. Aside from that, pool players are pretty much a cross section of the general public now and most of the general public respects our troops, even those that question their leaders.

One of the few positives that came from Viet Nam, I think almost everyone realizes it is wrong to attack the rank and file in the military for doing their duty.

Always room for one more serviceman here. Welcome!

I was trained for 6 weeks by Ranger's...does that count? They would kick some ass when we went to town (Fairbanks, Alaska 1962). Throw people through bar windows. Those were some good times. Johnnyt

This is my point I have seen plenty that do you use it here I have no doubt there are others. Rangers are not common in any circle and this is why it is interesting to me that there seems to be so many here not just Rangers but general support of the military, I have had 2rgrbn as my user name since 1989 and have not encountered 10 instances where someone recognized it or at least let me know they recognized it. It seems like many of the guys here are 40 - 60 years old maybe these generations are a little more patriotic then some others. I don't know that is why I started the thread.

I'm not saying Rangers are any better or any worse then anyone else but there are not a lot of them so I found it interesting that so many seem to be on a pool site.

I noticed the same thing.

Not sure why there are so many but it can only be good for the community.

Thanks for your service.

I'd have to agree seeing as how they all live in Arlington, TX and New York, NY. I hear they get together quite a few times throughout the year to do battle with various other groups around the country.

It is a pretty small community, I am surprised as well. My username is pretty much the same for most other sites or pages. I have been using it since about 2000 (Nov 2000 to be exact  ).

Blade running with the PRC77 and night land nav (Ft Lewis) also almost got me.

Will you be partaking in the Turkey Day tournament at Marlarkey's?
If so I'll see ya there.

I want to be 11B so bad, However when I went to MEPS I found out that I am Color Blind, Red/Green. Was not able to Sign my Ranger Contract.
I'm going to get it checked out so I can go back To MEPS and get that taken care of.

I choose 15P so I could hook-up with the 160th SOAR. My buddy is going to MEPS in a couple weeks Time and Is going to Sign His SF contract.

I think if I can Hook-up with SOAR I'll be able to make some Contact's, Go SF and Get back With my Buddy.

If you get in with 160th you won't want to go anywhere else. They are an exceptional unit. Unless things have changed you shouldn't need contacts to get into SF. When I was in you had to be at least a Spec 4 and complete SFAS. That would get you on a Team then you go to whatever your specialty is training for example a medic goes through the 300F1 course next comes languistics then back to your team. Just for reference 160th Pilots are some of the most respected in the world and they really are that good. If you haven't signed yet and you are interested in Special Operations do a little study on Air force CCT (Combat Control Teams) and Air Force Para Rescue (PJ's) I have worked with everyone and if I had it to do again it would be one of those two or a pilot. I am Victor qualified and was a member of Ranger Battalion I would not trade it for anything but it is not near as glamarous as one might think.
