Rank the Tables

The finest and most popular commercial table. The "Black Crown" is selected and renowned as the best table in most major tournaments. Built with precision on a state of the art numerical control machine, the "Black Crown" is a must when looking for maximum durability, solidity and appearance. The "Black Crown" is the first choice of billiard clubs and recreation centres.

I copied this off the web site you provided, which "Major" tournaments are they played on?;)

Glen

The only one I can think of is the most recent Saskatoon City 8 Ball Championships ;)

They are a fine table, imo.

1. Gabriel
2. Gold Crown
3. Diamond
4. Kim Steel
5. Olhausen
6. Gandy
7. Robertson

To be honest, the first three are pretty much interchangeable, imo.

1. Diamond Pro-Am
2. Gold Crown V
3. Kim Steel
4. Tie - Gabriel and Connelly Ultimate (six legs, 2" slate, 2,000 lbs.!)
5. Tie - Rebco and Global commercial models

The old AMF's were good tables too. Peter Vitalie made the best playing home table ever, with Olhausen second. Renaissance tables are in a league of their own and priced accordingly. Same with Adler.

If we include older tables, the Anniversary/Centennial may be the best table ever made. All the old Brunswicks were superior tables. Even the Sport King compares well with anything out there today.

I could not remember the name of those. Rebco's are a fine table and California manufactured if I recall correctly.

I just thought that this is kind of funny, because my local (tiny)room has 3 9 footers. a Centennial, a Sport King, and a Gold Crown IV. All have been tightened and redone by Mark Gregory. (The Centennial has since been done by the room owner, and isn't as nice as when Mark did it). I still have to go with the GC, but they are all really nice.

This is just my opinion, as a player. I used to own a couple of poolrooms, and if I ever do another one, this would be my choices.

1. Diamond
2. Gold Crown
3. Kim Steel
and as for the bar tables, Diamonds at the top of the list, but I would also have a some Valley tables for league purposes.

Glad to see gandy's getting in the 4, 5, and 6 slots at least. I had no idea how they were ranked I've been playing on them all of my pool life at the local place, which has 8 of 'em. I like how they play. Some might say the pockets are too easy on 'em but I like that =)

So Gandy is gone and now it's american heirloom. Their website makes a point of saying cheap chinese tables flooded the market and killed Gandy, but they refuse to outsource etc. etc. (o god I don't want to start another argument thread about chinese goods).

So American Heirloom is supposed to be focused on quality and won't use cheap labor, and they're made from the ashes of Gandy. Why aren't their tables on any of these lists? Just wondering, I never tried one myself. You barely even hear of them.

I have played on a lot of brunswicks too and I think they play great. Spit a few more balls out than the local Gandys but I don't expect every table to accomodate my slopshooting.
