Thank you so much everyone for the kind words. Its a great feeling to see hard work appreciated. Also I would like to thank many of you for your offers....sorry but I'm firm on this price. I could of easily priced it much higher. You'll understand when you hold it in your hand or hit a few balls with it. There are no excuses or apologies for this cue. Its dead nut perfect. I took a lot of time building this cue to make sure it was absolutely the finest quality & best performing cue possible. It was indeed made to be played with by a high level player. I'd much prefer that as to a safe queen. :)

It would be a travesty to NOT play with this cue! I am glad you chose Bacote instead of Cocobolo for this cue...I like Cocobolo, but I think it's just been overdone, and I like Bacote just a bit better...and this is a wonder piece.:)

I am particualrly impressed with the pointwork in this cue, and I am kinda picky that way, having owned a couple of Skip's cues. I only wish I had the dinero.:(
Someday, Kevin!:D Keep up the awesome work!!

Kevin, nice-looking cue - I would like to hit with one of your cues sometime, but haven't ever run across one and none of my friends have ever hit with one. Perhaps at some point.

In any case, I was wondering - why 3 veneers instead of 4? Aesthetically it looks perfect this way, but I've always wondered if aesthetics were the only reason for veneers. Joel Hercek says on his site that the veneers add 'spine' to the cue and that he won't build a cue without them;however, Kerry Zyler never uses veneers or even points (except in a few Titlist conversions). Also noticed that some 6-pointers have only 2 veneers per point - is it a matter of 'available space' on the cue? Just curious what your thoughts are.

Being as how hit is so subjective, how can you make this statement?

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay...

Because I know just a little something about how to make a cue play good. I believe anyone who can play a bit would like this cue immediately. I asked on pg 1 for a review from the new owner, so we'll see.;)

Mr. Varney.. that is a very nice cue you made. Wood combination makes it very attractive. Someone should pick it up fast. Good luck Mr. Varney:D

But playability is only one part of the equation. What about looks? Design?

There are a dozen other cuemakers out there that know how to make a cue play solidly. AND they don't hop on a public forum like this and brag.

The cue may be a great player. Why knows? But there are other elements to consider when building cues.

Mr.Varney takes pride in his work. He also believes in the product he produces, as do countless others on this forum. When he was asked a question, he answered it accordingly. Enough said.

I believe pharoah was eluding to the fact that this was considered a "high end cue" when the consensus appears to be far from it, and at a price that is quite honestly only WAY too high.... not to mention that everyone that ever held it would pay more...

Kevin,

Cue looks wonderful. Did you splice the points and veneers yourself or was the forearm premade by someone like Prather?

I hope you don't take this the wrong way Lisa, but why, WHY, are you comparing the point/veneer work to a Skip? There is only a handful of people that achieves the kind of precision that Skip does in that department, and Kevin Varney is not one of them...not by a long shot.

It looks like a decent cue, and perhaps the same cue from a bigger name will command the pricetag.

But that's the point, isn't it? It's not just the cue being discussed, it's also who made the cue. For that reason, I think the asking price is steep, but if he can get 1k for it I'll be happy for him. And with this crowd, I won't even be that surprised if someone forks over the dough...

THAT is a sharp lookin' cue, sir.

Best of luck on the sale.

You going to VF this year???

Guys, I gotta ask.

Why are you knocking his work if you've never seen, felt or used one?

The man is offering something that was created by his hand.
Either buy it or not, but the complaining about something you have no point of reference for is nuts.

You would not appreciate it if he did this to your thread, so stop it.
