A friend of mine at the pool hall asked me whether there is a relationship between the BCA and Diamond Billiards. I didn't know the answer, but I'll bet someone on this forum does.
Relationship between the BCA and Diamond Billiards?

Bill...As Randy stated, there is no relationship between the BCA and Diamond Billiards. There is, however, a relationship between the BCAPL and Diamond Billiards. Mark Griffin owns the BCA Pool League, and is a partner with Greg Sullivan in Diamond Billiards. All that means is that the BCA national tournaments will always have GREAT tables!

I think most have realized how shitty valley/cougar/dynamo play vs. the diamond. We are seriously thinking of purchasing at least 5 or more of them to put in our hall.

Jokingly, but not really, why would the BCA support the sport of billiards when they are consumed with the home market and outsourcing. By their current and previous actions they continue to distance themselves from increasing play with player programs. Once the number issues with the trade show rear their head then and only then will things redirect, you need someone with vision, no different than the formation of the NFL.

To explain that a little more, Mark, Greg, and Chad are all partners in the "Smart Table" industry. Diamond Billiards it's self, still owned by Greg but there is a strong friendship between all of them...but business is business, and friendship is friendship...meaning they keep them separate. Scott, I was involved with Diamond clear back to 2000 when I helped Diamond to design their "Smart Table" coin-operated pool tables. Mark Griffin came on board with Greg, getting involved with the coin-operated pool tables...NOT Diamond billiards. Diamond billiards it's self...is still, and always has been owned just as I told you...by Greg and Chad...not Mark. Mark owns part of the coin-operated pool table corp that they formed separating it from Diamond Billiards Products Inc. It is it's own corp not involved with by Mark...or any one else for that matter. I would know...though I don't work for Diamond directly, I am still involved with everyone at Diamond as well as Mark Griffin with the BCA.Scott Lee said:

Glen...Okay, I did not know they had separated the Smart Tables from the rest of Diamond Billiards. That makes sense then. I knew Mark had ownership in some part of the Diamond business. Thanks for clearing that up!

Originally there were several different entities at Diamond with different ownership percentages. Over the last year or two, all the Diamond entities have been re-structured so there is common ownership relationships in all of the Diamond entities. This make operations a whole lot easier.
So Glen was correct - until a year or two ago. It does not make a lot of difference anyway. All we are trying to do is to improve the status of pool players everywhere. So. there you have it . . . . . . . .
