reliable cuemaker .. isn't that oxymoron? :D

I know more cuemakers that I like rather than dislike. Now, I may like some but it doesn't mean they are reliable (the subject of the thread).

Two of my favorite cuemakers aren't reliable, as far as timing/deadline goes .. their version of a day is not 24 hours, that's for sure. However, they are still ok in my book as they have other factors that makes up for it, such as quality, honesty (except for delivery time), personality and etc. I just learn to put up with it as they have to put up with me.

Yup, I played and there is no doubt you are correct. Hell, Ross accused me of trying sleep with Mike :D

I'll tell ya JimBo, you are usually dead on with your opinions, it's just a matter of people being able accept criticism or not and more times than not, they can't.

TAP..TAP..TAP!:)

Good points, and one thing that isn't mentioned but I think most people know is the better the cuemaker, the bigger the name, the more they get away with. A guy with a 4 year wait list can screw you over 5 ways till Sunday (not even sure what that means LOL) and the day you get your cue you're still pretty happy with him.

just somebody who does it when they say they will.

No particular order-min 3 transactions:

TASCARELLA
MOTTEY
SOUTHWEST
DPK
Ed BOADO(OMEGA)
BRICK
McDANIEL
SCRUGGS
DIVENEY
Mike JOHNSON(JENSEN)

Last year I bought a Chad Carter cue from eBay. It was one of his earlier cues that he experimenting with finishes. I didn't like the finish that was on it and he read that post. He told me to mail the cue back as he had perfected his process. So he refinished and rewrapped the cue for me for free.

So, I've got to say that these three men have treated me very well.

FWIW,

Jim

Chad Carter makes a great cue and understands what it takes to be succesful.

How come you didn't mention Triple Cross Cues? It's also BOLD hyperlinked in your signature.

Ted Harris

I met Ted Harris back in 95' he's extremely fast with his repair work.. and quite impressive to watch even though I'm also A professional cuesmith and cuemaker I thought he had his act together although I havent heard anything negative about his cuemaking... he is quite the cuesmith, however, I have yet to see his evolved cues... what is his market or contribution to the billiard industry or is he just selling art like most others ???? and what exactly didnt he do "i'm a little unclear"

Thanks,
- Eddie

Wayne Holmes makes a good cue and quick he's got a good reputation in UK but is based in US..i'm suprised i havent seen his name pop up on this forum more but there are thousands of decent makers in U.S.

Actually Jim it is "6 ways to Sunday". I'm guessing it has something to do with there being 6 days leading up to Sunday. Maybe 6 days of hard work to Sunday. Who knows?????
I did a google on it and found nothing, it must be of very old derivation.

As one that has been burned in the past!

I have to say I ordered a custom cue based on this design...
image.popup.php

And my Cue was made as ordered and delivered as promised with good communication all along the way! Thanks Samsara!!!! :) This is my second Cue from them and I love them both. :D

I have to chime in with Dennis Dieckman.

He says it how it is. No sugar coat. No surprises. Simply a fantastic cue and a fun ride getting it done.

Hunter Classic & Sugartree

Wes Hunter of Hunter Classics. Very honest and hardworker. also Sugartree from Eric Crisp Look great and hit real nice.

I'm a HUGE fan of Wayne and his work. Highly underrated.

Reliable Cue Makers

I think I would be remiss if I didn't mention Jerry Powers with Jerico Cues. He's timely, lots of good ideas and in my opinion the best gaurantee on the market. BTW I'm bias LOL, all I have are Jerico cues, from the jump break to playing cue to custom shafts.

Pechauer

Even though they are on the custom/production cusp, their work is always clean, reliable and on time. Joe is a great guy and up front with everyone.

I can't attest to having bought a lot of cues, but Thierry Layani was great to deal with. He answered e-mails, called me with questions, and kept me in the loop the whole time.

And, Layani Cues are just plain awesome. :)

I have heard lots of great thing about JW Petree's cues. I consider him one of the most under rated cue makers.

I have purchased some leather blanks from him before, he was super professional, and prompt with his reply. An excellent guy to deal with.

This thread is prompted by the complaint thread about Ted Harris. Maybe we should mention a couple of professional cuemakers who do what they say when the say they'll do it. I'll mention a couple who's names will be recognized, I'm sure there are plenty more.

Mike Webb
Samsara
Skip Weston
Pat Diveney (sp?)

Who else you got? Not neccessarily somebody who does things in a hurry, just somebody who does it when they say they will.

I have directly dealt with 4. No problems.
Bob Owen ( Shurtz)
Dale Perry
Clint Putnam
Mike Stacey

Kikel Cues

One of the best cue makers period is Dave Kikel. His cues are top grade not only in playability but in design and workmanship. Have never heard any negative responses bout his cues.
