Cue ring appreciation thread - here's a picture I took today. (Next time I need to blow the loose threads off the cue if I'm going to take high resolution pictures!) Has nothing on Kam's recently posted Barrenbrugge. :)

I love nice ring work on cues, it just seems to enhance the look and beauty of the cue.

Forgive me if this is out of line, but I'm not big on single silver rings at the joint of a cue. There's been thousands upon thousands of those made in the past and it was very common decades back, which was nice for the time and very acceptable. But I've saw a bunch of big cues by outstanding cue makers that would knock your eyes out and then look at the joint and there's that single silver ring. It would still be a nice cue, but with nice ring work added it would have been 10 times sweeter. Ring work or lack there of has been a deal breaker for me in the past on some fine looking cues.

Hope this wasn't a slight thread derail, I was just agreeing that rings are nice and sometimes very important for that added look to a cue.

I'm glad you posted this, what kind of camera are you using?

Thanks for the interest. I took the picture with a Nikon D300 using an older 35-70mm F2.8D Nikkor macro lens, handheld. Depth of focus was perhaps a touch too narrow, but I'm happy with the results.

[Ideally I'd go for softer lighting but I don't exactly have a studio setup. A GC1 with tournament blue cloth and double fluorescent lights had to do. (Thanks Corey!)]

Another masterful ringwork by Dave. I have a couple of nice ringworks I'd like to share too, just need to go through my album first..
