OMG! I am shocked. I knew he wasn't doing well but OMG... :(

Oh, Dan - I cared so much about you and I will miss you terribly!! You are a great man with a huge heart. You will be missed.

Thank you for the post, Mickey - Dan deserves this. He made such an amazing impact on so many people and in the pool community.

I <3 You Dan - May you rest in peace.

I don't even know where to begin - this is heart breaking. :( He will surely be missed by many. Dan was always around when you needed him and even when you didn't. I have known Dan for well over 10 years and I never saw a frown on his face, he was always happy, and willing to help anyone. He was, still is, a GOOD GOOD MAN, with a wonderful spirit. I don't really know what else to say except that I love him dearly and am glad that he'll be watching over us from Heaven (because that's where a Man like Him goes).

Man that is sad to hear but at least he is not suffering anymore. Dan was a great guy and like some other people said he was always in a good mood with a smile on his face everytime I seen him. My prayers are with his family and friends.

In our Heart

Just like everybody has said, Dan was always smiling....it puts a smile on my face just thinking about him now. He will be missed, and his family in our prayers.

We'll meet you when our chores are through.

DAN - A Wonderful MAN for POOL !!

I don't know where to start telling people out there how good Dan was for pool here in TEXAS. Knew him for too many years to say, 20-25. The women pool players were encouraged and greatly supported by Dan at the tourneys he attended. I will sorely miss Dan, as will all the players here in TEXAS. Rest in peace, friend. Rnewkirk

I feel a bit ashamed of myself. Robert called earlier today and told me Dan had passed. I haven't been on AZ all day because I dreaded seeing this so much.

Dan was a very happy guy almost all the time. He loved pool and was always active in the calcuttas.

Dan loved the ladies events and was always so very supportive of them. Many I know are so very grateful to him and very sad right now.

We started the Fast eddies Tour almost 8 years ago. I had just gone through a divorce and was as broke as a person could be. We were struggling so hard, but determined to see it through.

We were at the Houston Open and Dan stopped near me and we began to talk. He said many nice things about the tour and thanked me for bringing it to Texas. I made the coment of being broke and really struggling, and Dan didn't say too much. We went our different ways that day and enjoyed the tournament. A few hours went by and Dancalled me outside, wanting to discuss something. We got out side and he made sure nobody was watching and stuffed some money in my shirt pocket and said, Ihope this will help. I thankedhim and tried to hand it back and again he stuffe it back in my shirt pocket and then walked to his car and left. As I was walking back inside I took a look at the money and it was $1000!! I nearly fell to the ground. I rushed back out and Dan was gone. It took a hwile, but I got him paid back and he never once brought it up and as far as I know never told anyone of it.

Dan was a cheerful, fun-loving, kind, and very caring man. I will miss him dearly and my prayers go out to his family which he spoke of often.

R.I.P. Dear Friend!!

Thanks for this story about how a real man operates. There is a lesson here for everyone. Please post a photo of Dan somebody.

Picture of Dan

Mel, Dan, and I.jpg

Jay - this is the only picture that I have that I can find! Obviously, he is the happy man in the middle.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words. He really deserves them PLUS A LOT MORE!

Peace,
Amanda

Terrible news

OMG! This is terrible!

I have known Dan Freeman for several years. Besides seeing him all over Houston at all the major events, I had the pleasure of being on several 9-ball leagues out of Sunny's place called Breakers in Webster, TX with him. I believe he was on the same team as Charlie McKinley (RIP) for a while.

I know that Charlie Bryant and Jeremy Jones have a lot of love for Dan and all that he did for the pool players around Houston. Dan made a positive impression on everyone he came across.

Dan Freeman was the first person to ever buy me in a tournament calcutta. He got me for 20 dollars and I came in second, making him about 300 dollars.

Houston's rail just lost one of it's giants.

Rest In Peace my man. I will never forget you.

Thanks for posting the photo of Dan. That makes it a little more personal. I can see the joy all over his face hugging a couple of beauties.
