Not sure I spelled the name right but unfortunatley John Passed yesterday. A great guy who only wanted great things for pool and to help. He was a good man to me and always supported anything I did. My prayers go out to his family.
 
His last name is Rousseau. Glad to have known the guy, super nice and would always take the time to chat it up in person or on the phone. RIP big guy and enjoy a cigar and some straight pool wherever you are. :smile:
 
I too knew John Rousseau. He was a student of mine, as well as a very articulate and intelligent businessman. He offered, at one point a few years ago, to become the president of the WPBA, and give some sadly needed business direction...at no cost to them, even working the position for free. Unfortunately, after a scant few months in the job, there were a few vocal WPBA pros who became quite vocal about the direction he wanted to take the organization, and did a "behind the scenes" move to oust him. He resigned, without ever getting the chance to implement the ideas he had...which were unselfish, and designed to help the WPBA in many ways. He and I spoke on several occasions about this, and imo, it was a sad day for women's professional pool that they choose not to follow his direction. He had a LOT to offer them. Too bad they couldn't see it. He was a very close friend of Jeanette Lee's. RIP John...you were a good guy! :sorry:

He was always John, and his bowling skills were top notch. Crossed paths many a time in school late 60's SIU Carbondale IL, was actually there this past week for a Dennis Gieseke/Tex memorial gathering. These two were good guys and impacted many others in positive ways thru life and thru a cue stick....BIG JOHN....He always made me ''LAUGH''....He also hung out at the Pool Hall in Aurora CO a few decades ago, tho more to cocktail and do biz than too play. Last time I saw em, he just got his first I Pad and acted like a big kid with a new toy, but that's the way he was, that made me laugh Instantly. RIP family and friends.

I got the opportunity to get to know John fairly well over the last 3-4 years.

Very sharp guy. Quite opinionated. Did not give a damn about being politically correct.

He did have a lot of talents. He was an excellent bowler- even being a national champion many years ago. I believe he was in some events with Carmen Salvino.

He would not 'suffer fools'.

He really did have a plan for the WPBA. One that several longstanding women board members would not admit had potential and even went so far as to sabotage.

That was unfortunate because he loved pool and especially women's pool. He was elected president of the WPBA and then refused access to the past records etc.

I think he was the women's last real opportunity to flourish.

RIP John. You just beat cancer and I hate you didn't answer your phone when I called last week.
