Rip-off Report on Glen, The Real King Cobra

The best advice my deceased grandfather told me was.

"You can't unsay something"

Not that Tommy's advice means anything, but think to yourself, this is applicable to anyone who wants to post a "my cue, table, item, is not here, done, or working correctly" thread, have you tried every possible method of resolving this?

TO ALL, exspecially Glenn,

I would like to appologize to eveyone for starting this rant. After the weeks started to turn into months, I started to get bent out of shape. and when my last couple of calls to Glenn wern't answered it pushed me over the edge. Through all this I have taken Glenn's character into consideration and have been more than patient. Each time I spoke with Glenn he gave me a new ship date and each time I waited a couple weeks beyond that date before contacting him again. I have always been kind and understand when speaking with Glenn, and have never done anything to push or hound him. In fact since Feb I think I have only spoken with him 3 or 4 times. I understand things get in the way, but I am kind of a no nonsence person, if you have problems just tell me, we can always work through it, but don't tell me it will be done then, and then , and then and never come through. This is what bends me out of shape.

I hope everyone understands, and I appologize for everything I said, to all and to Glenn.

Thank You

Tony

Deadline problems, as well as way to much work aside... I have been following RKC's work and posts for awhile. It takes time for me to make an informed and educated decision when it comes down to who works on my tables, as well as my friends tables. But reading all this, and as a business man myself, I am appalled by the attitude sir. I would never treat a customer, no matter what the price of the job or how many others I have lined up, in this manner. Now Glen I know you could care less, because you have soooo much work lined up you cannot do it all, and this mans MEASLEY $250 means jack sh!t to you, but a mans word is a mans word, and at the end of the day, even after the OP's rant, a quick apology along with your offer to send his $ and rails back untouched would have sufficed. Many folks after a while get jaded as to the fact that no matter the success they achieve sometimes it is the smallest of customers who make the biggest stink, and the effects of that will be felt down the road. Good luck in your endeavors RKC, I will now be looking into another person for my table needs, based only on your responses to a man that has every right to be concerned about the work you failed to follow through on.

To the OP.... Good luck, let us know if it takes another 2 months to have your money sent back, as well as the rails untouched..

Good luck ever getting your money or rails back

You don't tug on superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind and you don't criticize RKC!

RKC, Dirty Hairy said this best, "Yeah, you're a legend in your own mind."

Tommy,

I can't speak for Tony, but if I were in his position I would not be ashamed of the thread now that RKC has chimed in. Not to claim to be a sleuth, but the apology came shortly before RKC's first reply to this thread. It may be that they had communications and then came Tony's apology.

Regardless RKC has reacted in kind to the pre-apology venom with a little cobra juice of his own. By following the thread and not going all Jung like I am, the casual observer will see that RKC has not been gracious to accept the apology and has hissed at those who are telling him to stay away from their table.

I also am a little shocked at the "untouched" confession.

As for me I would think a forum post after 2 months and several unanswered calls would warrant a forum post where the contractor is an active member. RKC admitted there had been no talk since the 9th of May.. This thread is a couple of days old and now there is communication.

Glen please put me under Cleary until you can clear your head and consider Tony's apology. Like M. Frost sez: "This is the internet".

6000 views and counting quickly .... I don't think even Lindsey Lohan could be more personally self destructive.

Especially given the title .... EVERYBODY reads threads with a title like this one.

What I got out of Tony's "apology" is that he suddenly realized that he was in danger of not only losing his money, the months of no pool playing but also his rails forever. Not that easy to come up with a good set of Gandy rails. Time to STFU and wait another half year or so.

It's me who owes Tony and apoligy, not the other way around. Tony is a real stand up guy, but that don't do me any good when it comes to finding the time to work on his rails, I get pulled in many directions all at the same time, so I have to do what needs to be done first, as the highest priority first, as it's not about the amount of money that decides what gets done next, it's the high priority that gets done first. I can't change the priority's, I can only get them done as they come up, then hope I still have enough time to get caught up with my sideline jobs. I certainly don't need to explain things to all those here on AZ that think and act like they have something to do with my life or my work. And, I'd finish the rails for Tony requardless before I send them back, I'd never quit in the middle of a job, and never have.

IMO Like most business transactions that involve a service, it's all about managing expectations. If you know its gonna be 6 months but say it'll be 2, you're asking for trouble. If you you know it'll be 6 months and tell them 8, you'll look like a hero for delivering early.

Whether it's cues or pool tables, the simple fact is that understandably, no one wants to pass up the money. So promises are made that cannot possibly be kept. This is not the first time we've seen a thread like this, nor will it be the last as long as people aren't realistic about the ability to deliver

"Under promise and over deliver" is a good quote to live by.

Welcome to AZB. Glad you are enjoying the spectacle, but this thread doesn't even break into the 'memorable' category of spats/blowups/meltdowns.

dld

Thanks for the welcome ! I rarely post as I'm not at the same level in pool as most of you guys and gals, but I know a good Internet meltdown when I see it. They're always ugly, and they're always regretted. And I've never seen one person not wish they could take it back .... Myself included. I'm a mod on a few gun forums, past and present, and it always makes you cringe when a previously well-respected member temporarily 'goes off his/her meds' .... Figure of speech only .... LOL.

What can possibly be higher priority than geting a guy's table back up in a timely manner? Did you keep pushing his job back because pore important work kept coming up? What job do you think is more important to Tony?

Which is it $600 or $800 for a rail calibration? Will my job get pushed back if something "more pressing" comes in?

Don't bother scheduling my job, you won't be there and I wouldn't put up with this kind of bullshit from anyone working for me.

They don't make hats big enough to fit your ego bloated head.

Well, to put it bluntly...it's none of your business, is it? Try proof reading before you post key board warrior:rolleyes:

If its not money that makes one job priority over another, What makes one pool table more important then the other?

Other jobs already in the waiting to get finished up, as in other tables that I can't finish until I get to where they're at. If I could have worked on Tony's rails at his house, I'd have already been done with them, but there was no where near his house to park my truck/trailer which also happens to be where my shop and all my tools are, which require electricity to work, so that requires plugging in somewhere. With no room to park, the only other thing I could do is take the rails back to the factory with me, hoping to find the time there to rebuild them, but it's hard to find the time to work on the rails at the factory because of all the projects I have waiting for me there to get done, which I might add were in the works before I even picked up Tony's rails, so to answer your question....the priority is to finish the the jobs done in the order in which they come up. Because you see, I have other customers waiting on me as well, some of which have been waiting since November last year, special orders you might say. And the only time I can work on these other projects is when I'm at the factory, as I can't do them on the road, like I wish I could have done for Tony...at his house, before I got back to the factory.

Hi Glen, When you take on a new project are you upfront with the customer how long they might have to wait for you to complete their work? Sounds like you have alot going on at one time.

It's hard to give dates of completion, unless I'm right there doing the work, and even then it's hard to know what has to be fixed or rebuilt until you get into the pool table. So, yes I tell them it's going to be a while before I leave, but I only seldom leave with the rails. I think I've only picked up rails to rebuild only 2 or 3 times over the last 10 years, as I prefer to do them and the table on site.
