Robert (Cotton) LeBlanc's new book

Robert sent me the first five chapters of his book. OMG! I couldn't stop reading, OR laughing at these stories. Just the way I remember the pool world when I was involved years ago. He starts out with his youth and goes up to recent times with the wildest, coolest stuff about the people, situations and action he's been involved in. I was glad to read about the Chicago action, and it turned out all kinds of people I knew were all over in the book. I used to travel around with some lesser known players back in the day (say 1975 or so), and life on the road is tough to say the least. But this book had me laughing out loud. I can't imagine how he stayed ALIVE, and of course there's a parade of beautiful women (though I'm described as sexy rather than beautiful! LOL and I'm actually BOTH). I've had a lot of fun with Robert since he was a kid and I just wish he would SEND ME THE OTHER CHAPTERS. What a character he is; I remember most him going around the table shooting the balls in while telling the wildest stories and having everyone in the room laughing. After I read the first part of the book, I realized they're ALL TRUE! Gotta grab this when it comes out, great reading.

Robert LeBlanc/Cotton

I sure will find out what's up with publishing or what his plans are. I'm not sure if it's completely finished; I will call him later or drop him an email and ask. Thanks also to Eric for hooking me up after years of losing track.

Hope to see you all in Indiana in January.

Lynn

I have read the first 50 pages and its great, infact its so strong it could get picked up by a publishing company and go main stream-and its all trus. I know Cotten for almost 20 years, gambled alot with him over the years and he like JAy has an incredible memory,

he was hooked up with all the mob guys, put into big action whrn he was young, the book goes into all that and more...it aint rated G.

I have had the pleasure of transcribing Robert's notes for his book and can tell you first hand that it is a very exciting story he has to tell. I became so enthralled with what he was saying that I often stopped typing because I got caught up in the story! Guaranteed this will be one book you won't want to put down!

If anyone has interesting pool stories to tell, it's Cotton. He's been in action in more pool rooms than darn near anyone else I know.

Glory days

That time period was the glory days of Chicago pool action. It was also the most dangerous time for Chicago pool action. Getting drugged or stuck up was a constant threat. Winning was one thing, getting out with the money was another. LeBlanc was right in the middle of it all. The book figures to be exciting.

Good luck, Robt.

Another little trivia fact about Cotton...he was the technical advisor for Pool Hall Junkies. He and I have had some extensive conversation about that, and how difficult it was to work with actors who could not shoot a lick of pool!:grin-square:

"confessions of a PoolHall Junkie"

Thanks to everyone who showed interest in the book! It will be out in 6 or 7 weeks! There are stories about some of the top players and a couple of stories about a guy that I stayed at his house for a while....George McGann

Book

Definitely looking forward to the book. Saw Robert many times in northwest Indiana during the mid and late 70's. During this time, I saw him playing Peru Paul at Don & Tony's in Hobart, IN and was getting beat up playing bar table 9-ball. He offered Paul the 8 if he could put the big Q ball in the game, and Paul went for it. He busted Paul that night.

Another time, I steered him to Bullwinkles on RT 6, which is Ridge RD in Gary, IN. The owner of the place was Tall Paul, who was a thousand dollar score in 9 ball and Back Gammon. While they were playing, I got lucky and left with a lady and never made it back before they were finished. While I was sitting there the house phone rang and the bartender gave it to me. Robert was on the phone and told me to come to Denny's off of I-94 and Cline AVE to get my steering cut. Don't know many people that would have done that. He had to split with 2 others he was with. Will relate more later.

Bump for a great guy. Cotton is invovled with six pocket and has been a great contributor. He told me about the book I might see if I can get my hands on a bit of it.
