Romance... and pool?

My boyfriend doesn't even play pool.... thank God he lets me go out every night to practice and travel to tourny's all over the place and he doesn't have a problem with it... :) I'm one of the lucky ones I guess.

This is soo true! Pool room custody is a very big consideration! :-) There is only one pool room where I live so pool wins every time. No risking that!

until you broke up, then it would be a nightmare (or so that has always been my thought) - who gets the pool room? but, I could be persuaded by the right guy, if only he wasn't so shy :p

I just had a relationship of sorts end because of pool. She couldn't deal with the fact that I practiced a couple hours every day. She felt like she came second to pool and decided to move on but blames it on me. That is one good thing about women who play pool. They like to play too so there aren't any arguments about the game and time spent at the pool hall.

I have dated probably ten women over the years I met through APA, BCA, or worked there. Got a date with one of them by playing a race in 8 ball for dinner. She was a 3 and I was a 7. I told her I would play a 9-2 race. Beat her 9-1. That's the only time she paid for anything and it was a good meal. The only problem that arises is if things don't go well and you constantly see them at the pool room. Most breakups aren't as bad because there is only a slim chance of seeing that person again. Definitely not so in the pool community.

If you are ever lucky enough to get or see one of the original posters for the movie "The Hustler" you will see it was a movie on Romance, not pool.

In my early days (60's) it was rare if at all to see a lady in a Pool Room.

It is different today and I am lucky enough to be classified as a "dirty old man".

My New Years resolution this year will be the same as forever, this year I will date a woman over 30.

There used to be single girls on AZ and now there are 20 threads on why you should be allowed to say certain words, who should be banned, etc. Awesome. Good job.

This Wednesday my team plays at a bowling alley. Horrid tables. I mean horrid. They move them 3-4 times a week to make room for bands playing in the attached pub. So often in fact they have dollies stowed right underneath to move them quickly. They are never level, the cushions are so broken I have better odds in the lotto than making a bank. But I love playing there.

Why?

Bowling has women. Hot women. I like 'em. They don't like me, but that's normal and there's probably a court order in several states. I do get to look at them until someone complains about the tongue marks on the windows.

But, back on topic. There is a song about this (no I won't be posting clips). Let me just say, I miss her every time I chalk my cue. Less when I run out. Whatever her name was...

.

My wife plays on our team and we play Scotch together.
All other nights, she has her lap top on the coffee table, a flat screen with Sat dish. She owns the remotes and the rest of the time, I doubt she even knows that I am gone.

In the morning, she will ask, did you go out last night? Works for me.

Me an my wife played league together for ten plus years on a couple teams..She also
played on a ladys Bca team, She still plays once a week..
I still play alot..but in the man cave with friends..The wife
spends her time on the lap top too..I'm pretty sure if I went
out the door..she'd want to now what I was doing an with who..lol
She still likes to tell me what to do..then say..ooh I don't care..
and she really doesn't..if I'm up to something that sounds like
fun..then she'll grab her coat an give me the look..as to
say..whats your problem..lets go.I just laugh..I've known
her for 22 plus years..I know where I stand..wouldn't want
it any other way..we still have fun playing the game together..
Our girls play with us as well..one just once in a while, the older
one, plays league an enjoys her self..I'm rich with life.

peace an happiness to all this holiday season.

I actually met my hubby when I was five..... We have known each other all our lives. He was in boy scouts with my brother, and we ended up graduating high school together. Lives drifted apart, I moved back home in 2003 In 2009 we got back in touch kinda on a whim more of a hey how are ya long time no see sorta thing.... well......... we started dating, then he wrote me into both the 9 and 8 ball team....... now I have fallen in love with his passion and make him practice with me every day until I can reach my goal of kicking his butt and making him rack for me 8 times out of ten  He is the captain of my 9 ball team, and we are on the same 8 ball team. I was so mad at him for sneaking me into pool, but now we both couldn't be happier with it ;)

i met my girlfriend through pool. she talked me into joining her apa team.

after 2 years i still have not decided whether that was good or bad.i am now on 5 teams and she is on 3 of them. latley she has been complaining about it being too much.

hey ! i wonder if that is why i have been in a slump lately ?

I met my husband, Harry, in our college poolroom.
He swears he used to beat me, but I refuse to believe it..

Gotta chuckle here. In your case, the old question is legit. "When did you stop beating your wife?"

The Hustler definitely was not about romance. It was a dark movie about passion and compromising yourself and your dreams.

I have only had three poolroom/pool related relationships.

First one she dumped me for a better pool player.

Second one went off with another player.

Third one was all into pool and heavily involved in the business. She said she was turned on by the gambling and taking down the other good players around her. Then a month after we were married she says she never liked all that gambling anyway......so we end up divorced and exactly a year later at 3am in Vegas I am barking at Tony Chohan to play some, being nitty and asking for ridiculous weight though and she walks right in the door of the casino right as I say something let's play for a 1000.

Conclusion: No matter how cool they are with your playing BEFORE you get married they will not BE COOL with it AFTER you get married. If they are then you are super lucky and better never let that one go.

My wife now is not into pool at all and I go out once or twice a week and she is cool with it as long as I keep the gambling light and don't stay out for days. :-)

My GF rarely plays, but supports me completely.

My experience is that as long as she has the GF status, she will continue to support and encourage your pool playing habits. If you upgrade her to Wife 1.0, sooner or later the shit will hit the fan

That all changes once you say I do, My first wife said she was going to leave me if I didnt stop playing pool.

I did stop playing pool just for her! :angel2:
It was the worst 10 seconds of my life:winknudge:

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful

I can only speak for myself. I have been married for 17 years, in a row, without a divorce  (yet:grin-devilish:).

During the short time we dated we'd go out and shoot pool. The first picture of us together shows one of us holding a cue.

A few weeks after we married, he found a cue in a case, in the parking lot of his old work place, he gave it to me. Many years later, we found out it was a hand made Ricco:eek:.

:slap:... 3 KIDS LATER. It was the couple's therapy doctor :groucho: that suggested we go out on date nights, which eventually morphed in to league night. It was me that asked if we could buy a pool table, last February. We were invited to join 2 APA leagues last summer and mid season (8 ball & 9 ball). We decided to stay on the 9 ball team. Last night after we both won our 9 ball matches:yeah:, we came up with a name for our new 9 ball team.

:lovies:'nuff said, :lovies:

:grin-loving:Love you EasyEJL!:grin-loving:

First gf = through work
second = pool hall
third = pool hall
fourth = party, but was invited there by a guy who worked at the pool hall

...man, I gotta venture out more.

All I know is, every girl I see who can play even a little... usually gets a boyfriend at the pool hall right away, unless she's got a face that could haunt a house.

Not likely.
