My new favorite player is now Ronnie Alcano! Last night was the first time I got to watch him play, and MAN is that guy smooth. He never hits the ball harder then needed, has the perfect pace of play, never goes more rails then needed, and has that steely emotionless Filipino demeanor at the table. Sorry Efren, you have been replaced!:D

Is it?

Alcano or Orcollo that is the fisherman's son? I forget? I like to learn about different upcoming players, and their background some.
 
Not surprising, he's said to be the next generation after Efren.
 
Ronnie's stroke is more like a snooker player's stroke compared to Efren and Busta. It is also longer and more fluent than most snooker players. It's pretty to watch. He's also got a moster break.

He was the Asian Games (or was that the South East Asian Games) gold medalist last year and won the Hong Kong leg (I think) of the San Miguel Asian Tour. He's definitely up there with the best...not better though...very hard to stand out among the top ranks as they can all run out sets on each other.

I had the pleasure to play Ronnie in Shanghai this year. I only missed a couple of shots but that was enough for him to run the set. I was satisfied to get 5 games against his 8 the way he was playing. He went to Las Vegas the following week and went through that qualifier undefeated.

I heard recently that he gave some good players in LA some heavy spots, like the 6 out. From what I was told he gave it to King Kong and Morro and beat them like they were standing still. Can anyone support or deny that?

If it's true then he must be playing the best pool on the planet, those two mentioned play shortstop or better speed.

He was the South East Asian Game (not including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, India.....) 15 Ball Single winner. The SE Asian Game 9-ball single champion was Chan Keng Kwang from Singapore. The Asian Game will be held in November this year.

I was at Hardtimes to see Ronnie play King Kong. Ronnie gave him the 6 out wild in races to 15. First set was 15-8 and the second set was either 15-11 or 15-12. King Kong made a money ball on the break around 6 times total and still couldn't catch up.

Ronnie and Morro matched up a week or two prior and Ronnie gave him the 7 & 8. Ronnie won then they switched to 10 ball and Morro won.

Orcollo is the fisherman's son - I've heard that Orcollo fished/dove in deep waters without the aid of breathing equipment (don't know if that's true or not).

What is the "6 out".....? Is that just the 6 ball wild, or 6,7, and 8 ball wild?
 
It says 6-OUT which is what I was told too, that's a huge spot for someone capable of running a couple of racks at any time.

He gave King Kong the 6-out and beat him in two sets.
King Kong was saying nobody has ever given him that kind of weight.
Alcano also gave Galindo that weight.
He can't give that kind of weight to Morro though.

That would make him a badjao ( local word for those people there). :eek:
Orcollo's nickname is Boy Surigao. He is from the fishing town of Surigao.
Surigao is where the sun rises the earlies in the Philippines. It's the southernmost part of the Philippines. Orcollo is a Filipino redneck.
He speaks the same dialect me and Fred Agnir heard when we were kids. :D

If I'm not wrong, he was from the snooker background and also Az rookie of the year. Indeed he has a monster break, if this hasn't been posted before, check it out. He was trying his X-breaker, dunno who's the other guy. Hope the link works.

It was said from one that knows Efren that he earlier said that Alcano was the best young gun but recently he said that Orcolo is. Ron is doing just great at the Open and Dennis isn't there.
