Does anyone know the room rates at the Executive West? My wife made a reservation for me and they told her $185. I'm wondering if the only room left, may have been the Presidential Suite.

Maybe she didn't ask for the pool player's rate.

The deadline for the DCC rate was 12-29. The current rate for Executive West is 142.50 (Rooms still available). You can stay across the street at the other Executive hotel for 89.00 a night.

I sure would like the name of who told you that rate...I just checked with the Ex. West and both hotel rates are $72 for the DCC people, however the West has a couple days they are booked. I think the 10th thru the 12th may be full but the Ex. Inn definitely has rooms and the West often has cancellations....Greg/Diamond

I called Mon. and Tue. and I've been told the same price each time. I told them I was a "pool player" It's also on their website.

I'll call them again in the morning. They had rooms on 1-12 and 1-13 but not on 1-11. If I could, I'd stay at the Inn on 1-11 and then at the West on 1-12 and 1-13.

Greg,
My wife called back a couple of days ago and they told her, "Yes, thats the Derby City Classic rate. I figured, that once the cheap rooms were sold, that all was fair as far as, what was considered DCC rates. I should have gotten my reserevation a lot sooner. Guaranteed, it won't happen to me next year. As a side note, There is no other event, that I would go to if i had to pay $185 per night. (That's a compliment to you, Greg) By the way, my road partner has no idea the room is so high. As I see it, I agreed to make the reservations and I am covering the unexpected overage. Of course he may think, I am being cheap, by not kicking in gas $, since he is driving. Greg if you can change me to a lower priced room for Saturday the 6th, I'd greatly appreciate it. Either way, I'll be there and I will be enjoying myself.

I'm not disagreeing that the DCC rate isn't 72.00

What I'm saying is that they told me on 3 different occasions that the deadline to receive the DCC rate was 12-29-06. I called back several times hoping to get a different answer but didn't.

Give Greg your reservation confirmation #, that would show who you talked to and when. Part of the attraction of the DCC is that you can stay in the hotel where the event is at & get a reasonable room rate. Greg should be given the chance to dispute your high quoted rate as it probably doesn't do him much good for people to read that.

I called two weeks ago, got a room for the 11th, 12th, 13th @the rate that is quoted by Greg. No problem.

I'm not trying to give Greg a hard time. I don't see this as a problem that is his fault in any way, or within his control. IOW, I feel the DCC is great and I have absolutely no beef with Greg. I would be more than willing to PM the info to him, if he requested, but I can't see making it public. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Obviously I didn't mean to make it public. That is why I said give it to Greg. I can't speak for Greg but it seems that he cares enough to come onto this forum & respond. I have PM'd Greg before a concern & he replied quickly and professionally. I just think he deserves the respect for all he does (and I am sure he helped in the beginning negotiate the room rate) to have a chance to see what is the problem with your wife's reservation. Have a great time & look me up when you are there.

p.s. I think everyone at the DCC should take the time to search Greg out and take 3 seconds to shake his hand.

Raffle

I Just got an idea ..Why don't GREG/DIAMOND raffle one of the tourney tables off including set up or whatever at the Derby ,,I bet it would go!!

Sorry for the problems. I've had several issues with the hotel with miscomunications. They handle registrations thru a centeral booking office that handles several of their hotels....This often causes problems..We are trying to resolve them, someone must have decided to cancel the rate on the date you said, but that won't happen...If anyone is charged more than $72 for either hotel for a regular room let me know and I'll see that it is straighted out...812-989-6665...thanks, Greg/Diamond

Greg, I know you're going to be busy as can be. Thanks for looking out for the DCC attendees. You are the BEST!

BTW, send my regards to your lovely wife, and you, my friend, take it easy and enjoy yourself. You know what they say about all work and no play.

Looks like Mother Nature is being nice to the pool folk this year, which is GREAT for those who travel by car. I hear the weather is BEAUTIFUL! :)

Big kudos to Greg for taking care of business for us little guys. I'm sure there's only about 10,000 other things he has to plan/schedule/wrap-up/pull-off in these last few days leading up to the Derby, yet he still manages to keep an eye on "the little things." True customer service that others in the industry should take note of.

....11 hours and counting until I head out.........woo hoo!

I agree, he has a lot on his mind, right now. I feel bad, that I started this. I tried to be positive toward him. I hope, I did not come across, as trying to knock him, or the DCC. Sometimes, it is hard to get what I am feeling, into my writing. Anyway, Greg does do a great job of handling a lot of things, all at once. I am just sorry that, with this thread, I added one more problem to his plate. This will be my 3rd year going to the DCC and I plan to go, as long as I'm alive.
