Rooms in Reno

FWIW the Sands rooms were going for $24/weeknight several weeks ago over the internet. I ended up deciding on staying at the host hotel and got a round trip air/hotel package for three nights out of San Francisco thru United for $350. Good luck.

Linda,

I called to make res. and mentioned the code. They said I have to present the promotion letter when checking in to receive that rate? She said it stated that on the letter...

Any ideas???

Thanks!

Blatantly off-topic, but how the heck did you get 22.000 vcash?
edit: ok 21.000 now, you must have made a bet.

I pick em' real good.....

Actually, I just made a couple more bets. I have had the lead for quite a while, and I'm planning on keeping it!

IF the Sands would take V Bucks, I'd be in business!

Where can you see how much Vcash they have? It doesn't automatically show up for me. I am using the old vB3 style.

I dont' know about your v-cash, but you've got one FINE-LOOKING pup shown in your avatar! What a beauty! :)

I've been doing a little research myself on the Reno Hilton a/k/a Grand Sierra Resort, which is located on 2500 East 2nd Street, Reno, NV 89595.

If you go to the IPT website, the player's rate is $99. If you go to the Grand Sierra Resort website, there is a special for $100 per night.

I was checking into round trip air tickets from D.C. (BWI) to Reno (RNO), and I came across the cost through American Airlines as $345, with one stop in Chicago, a 2-hour layover.

If I purchase the round-trip air ticket and book the hotel reservations at the Reno Hilton, the total cost for both is $1,067.57, checking in the hotel September 1st and departing the hotel September 11th.

The hotel rooms come out less than 100 bucks per night, closer to $70. I think booking the air and hotel combo is a good deal.

When I read this price I was amazed, so I checked and I think you did not figure the air fare for two people. No way 2 people could fly roundtrip for that price. The best I found was 347 per person. Which makes more sense. And that probably does not include taxes. At least that is the prcies I got from 2 websites.

OK, I use the old style and vCash doesn't show up there. You have to use the Tech Two skin for it to display. Thanks.

You didn't fly to Vegas on concern of terroism. And now you are checking airfare to Reno......did you miss the news all day today? That two hour layover in Chicago might not be long enough to switch planes and get thru security.

Not unless they change security

When you layover where you landed you do not go through security again. I know you were just trying to be a wi--a--

I had no idea. I have never flown with a layover before where you had to switch planes. I figured Chicago is a big airport & you might have to switch terminals making you go thru security again.

...After spending MEGA hours on the Internet, I was able to find a GREAT price for the hotel AND airfare (round trip from D.C. to Reno)....

BTW, the reason I did an Internet search and spent so much time researching a good deal was because of IPT Member Alex Lely. He told me at the N.A. 8-Ball Championhip that he got a package deal of airfare and hotel, traveling from Europe to Vegas, for 1,800 bucks. Our hotel expense at the Venetian, not including travel, was 2,000-plus.

Travelocity is the ONLY website I found that offers rooms at the Reno Hilton a/k/a "Grand Sierra Resort Hotel" in combination with the airfare. From D.C. to Reno, one layover each way, and 10 days at the Reno Hilton, from September 1st (day before the players meeting) to September 11th (day after the finals), I found a package deal for 1,100 bucks.

Of course, I've gotta give credit where credit is due. Alex Lely's significant other did all the ground work for Alex's Vegas airfare/hotel package deal, as I did for Keith McCready's Reno airfare-hotel package deal. ;)

Travelocity, a good deal, IMHO, if you want to stay at the Reno Hilton. If you're interested in staying at another lodging facility in Reno that is close by, you can probably get a package deal for LESS than 1,000 bucks, depending on where you hail from.

Do they let folks on airplanes with bare feet, by chance? I'm just curious. I've only been to big airports and haven't had to frequent the smaller hubs.

Oh, yeah, just one more tip for those flying to Reno. A friend of mine who travels quite frequently told me to choose the layover location wisely.

She told me that Chicago and Atlanta are two cities to avoid as a layover, notorious for problems associated with missing baggage and flight delays.

Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and San Francisco are layover cities which may be more desirable en route to Reno.

I am so glad i didnt book the flight- I just got a notice from Orbitz that the RT is down $160. Im sure it is due to the recent events. Havent pushed the button yet though.

United Airline (not my fav) also does a hotel/air package which is pretty good. The Hilton is not always listed but if you back at a different time (try mornings) it does show up. Discounting the air fare the rooms averaged around $70 for a weeknight.

I am not really sure. Just the people that you meet in a Cracker Barrel in Missouri that, by your story, was east of St Louis but still in Missouri told you about all the bare feet people. I know that CJ Wiley & David Matlock are from the Ft Leonard Wood area, I'll have to ask them at what age they started wearing shoes.

This price you are quoting to Reno for air/hotel. Is that for one person? Is the price the same for the second person?

I never noticed C.J.'s or David's feet before. I think they were wearing shoes, though, last I did see them. I thought C.J. was in Texas and Matlock in Kansas.

The $1,100 for air/hotel (10 days at Reno Hilton and round-trip airfare from D.C. to Reno) is for one person.

The round-trip airfare for one from D.C. to Reno -- without the 10 days of lodging at the Reno Hilton -- is approximately $299 to $340, depending on the arrival and departure times.

I could have locked in the Sands Regency hotel deal with the D.C.-to-Reno round-trip airfare, which is located across the street from the Reno Hilton a/k/a "Grand Sierra Resort," for $850, but elected to stay at the host hotel for the tournament.

Wow, it's just about the same cost on Travelocity coming from St. Louis to Reno as it is from D.C. to Reno with the hotel deal.

St. Louis is "STL" and Reno is "RNO" when doing a search on the airports.

The Reno Hilton offers the largest casino in Northern Nevada, overlooking the Sierras.

Standalone Flight: $339
Standalone Hotel: $1,653
If purchased separately: $1,992
[Book together and save $934 ]

Flight and Hotel: $1,058 [St. Louis to Reno]. The price includes a 10-night stay in 1 standard room at the Reno Hilton, 1 round-trip ticket, and taxes and fees.

The cost of flying is very non specific. I just booked a flight for my mother, round trip to Los Angeles for $199. You can't get much cheaper than that.

I am sure that you already thought of this, but if Keith/You are going to be going to all these IPT tournaments by air over the next few years, it is best to stick to one airline to build up your frequent flyer miles. Look into the airline too, some just changed from 25,000 miles for a free round trip to 40,000. Sites like Travelocity & Expedia, etc. will also send you vouchers by email after you become a repeat customer with them.
