Sarah Ellerby vs Jennifer Chen (How would you rule?)

You really can't blame the WPBA players or the one's playing on the WPBA qualifying tours for not speaking up. There is only one women's pro tour in the US. It's not like they can just join another like the men. I wouldn't be surprised if down the road someone started another one though. Maybe one of the name players with money or backers. A monopoly is never good. Johnnyt

yeah up and Ming took her down.I was aware of that.

Ming is one of my best friends in life and I love her dearly. She helped me immensely in creating the two Billiard Expos we had out here.

She is a talented pool player with tons of heart. One thing she is not is a "pushover" for anyone. Ming is one of those people who will speak her mind, if she feels insulted. And if threatened, all I can say is watch out. You might as well step into a cage with a tiger.

Pardon me for being an ignoramus, but who is Ming? Is that a first name or last name? A full name would be great. Perhaps I could search the AZB archives for my own information. :o

Ming Ng. She played on the WPBA tour for eight years. Was ranked as high as 16th. Now she plays on the regional tours back East. Tiger tour etc.

Ming is one of the friendliest, warm people you will ever meet. Totally sincere at all times. If you see her at a tournament, go up and talk to her. She LOVES to talk about pool! If you chat with her about a match you watched her play, she will be all ears and give you her own description of how things went.

She has no trouble with gettin' in your face, even if she needs a stepladder.

Ill just throw this out for thought. You can agree or disagree. Its not based on any scientific fact but on my life experience and cultural upbringing.
When the missionaries came to China and espoused the idea of "turn the other cheek" and "let no man who has never sinned cast the first stone" the Chinese laughed and thought they were crazy. China had been around for over 5000 years and they been at war for most of it. One region against another. One warlord against another. Nah revenge was on their mind. Revenge is part of the folk lore of the culture. The stories of Fa Mook Lan (where Disney got MULAN from) and Kwan Gung the god of War. What did those legends do? They went out and killed people.
Look at all the Kung Fu movies. Its about someone who was done wrong and they get their REVENGE. If they didnt get it their sons and daughters would. And if not their children would. Thats the way we were brought up. Lot of Asian culture is this way.
I dont know where the idea of passive and effeminate stereotyped the Asian culture but you dont want to mess with no Asian. Particularly an Asian woman. The idea of democracy and forgiveness is a foreign concept and is thrown out the window when it comes to disrespect and aggression. In other words you mess with me and my family now Ill mess with you 10 times the worse later.
I would not want to mess with Ming. She is old school.

Worry not, when this thing does blow over, I am sure everyone will hear loud and clear. Even if it's dusted under... many will express their feelings.

No offense to anyone here at AZB, but this is a matter between 2 players and the WPBA Board and staff. There is not a single person who has posted in this thread that was an eyewitness to what occurred...so being presumptive based on personal opinion is not fair.

If/when it is determined that ANY player of the WPBA has been physically aggressive toward another player/fan/staff member....then our guidelines call for immediate suspension with the length of time being determined by the severity of the crime.

This post is not an attempt to sweep anything under the rug. It is simply a request to allow the WPBA to handle internal affairs internally...and to not crucify someone in public without all the facts.

As for the fact that some of our board members are accused of being fair and open-minded...I do not think that is unfortunate at all. As a matter of fact....if I was on trial in the court of public opinion, I would definitely want people who are fair and open-minded deciding my fate. I wouldn't want people who had already decided my guilt based on previous experiences and their personal dislike for me.

I am sure that once this is completely settled, some little birdie will come on here and let everyone know happens. Until then, I respectfully request that people let this particular topic die.

Melissa

The WPBA and the board had an opportunity here to draw a line in the sand when it came to this type of behavior and it looks like they've chosen to stick their head in it instead.

I hope I'm wrong.

The WPBA is the organization that is responsible for driving Jean Balukas out of the game by being arrogant enough to let her peers (who were constantly getting mud-stomped by her) decide to fine her.

I think that the impartiality of the WPBA board members has ALWAYS been in question.

Russ

Very good Russ, and when they got rid if her, a few of them started to win tournaments , that if she were around they would not have won , I don't want to name names but a lot of them wanted to get rid of her and that so called "sharking" incident was lot of BS.
