Sarah Ellerby vs Jennifer Chen (How would you rule?)

Very good point Blackjack.

I don't know how I would react if most of the players felt that I needed to be watched at all times during a match.

At some point that would become very old and not so much fun anymore. I really like the fact that my better half (Stacy Hurst) is gracious, win or lose.

In the last 12 years, I can't think of an altercation where she was playing in a match and there was a problem that couldn't be resolved by the tournament director.

Stacy lost to Melissa in San Diego 9-1, Melissa played great, and uh Stacy didn't. Stacy beat My-Hanh Lac 9-2 in Michigan City last week. Stacy played good and My-Hanh didn't. The end result is that both players would not mind playing Stacy again (it's not just because they think they can beat her...lol). I have players come up to me and tell me how much they enjoy playing Stacy (it doesn't matter if they won or lost, they still enjoy playing her). That's what makes me proud to know her. You can play at the highest level and still be classy... example: Allison

Being respectful and having class is very important. Players don't want to play Allison, it's not that they don't like her, it's because they end up sitting for VERY LONG periods of time ;) Allison is not only the best player in the world, but she has also set the bar for conduct. Allsion tells is like it is, and she gives credit to her opponent when they are deserving of it.

To all of you that have lost a match with integrity...I salute you...you are the ones that can make a difference in our sport.

mike--

Stacy is a real solid shooter. I am sure none of the ladies outside the top 4 enjoy drawing her. Allison has been near perfect in conduct despite her dominance. The only negative thing i can recall on AF was when she got knocked out of the WPC and called the round robin stages with races to 5 "a joke". Interestingly enough this year the races were to 7 and had they been to 5, AF would still have the exact same record. In other words she was ahead at 5 in all the sets she won. So i think she was a bit out of line but nobodys perfect as they say. She's close.

Ellerby has a background in the Penal System (probably a guard) - accounting for the supposed "elbow" incident -violence - if it is true - she should be fined and warned - if it happens again she should be banned - Balukas was fined for just opening her mouth. As far as I can see the WPBA
has a good rep - and there is enough stupidity of this sort in other sports, and excuses are always made up afterwards and the "perp" gets off with
a warning only to repeat later on.

I AM MUCH MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THE ALLEGED CHEATING THAN I AM THE ALLEGED ELBOW AS ONE INVOLVES INTEGRITY AND THE OTHER ASSAULT. LEGAL REMEDIES CAN BE TAKEN DEPENDING ON THE LEVEL OF THE ALLEGED ASSAULT BUT INTEGRITY IS A MUCH LARGER ISSUE. .

if push comes to shove and one one wants to get into legalese that incident with the foul shot does not necessarily reflect on integrity but it reflects on another issue.with respect to proving the elbowing u need to have the pictures from video camera of the casino ( who does not have conflict of interest ) and the testimony of that one eye witness can be thrown out after a good cross examination. cheers:cool:

VAGABOND, I MISSED YOU AT THE TOURNAMENT BUT CHEATING DOES NOT REFLECT ON INTEGRITY? ARE YOU GOING TO THE JACKSONVILLE TOURNAMENT WHERE I CAN BUY YOU A DRINK AND STRAIGHTEN YOU OUT?

I will have not one drink but many drinks with you till 3 am when we meet again.I was trying to say that the issue is much more complex especially in a legal contest-it is extremely difficult to establish that there was cheating on the part of 'velvet. There are other issues that need to be ruled out before one can say that there is cheating involved. If I were to assist her attorney I can see that they will not be able to prove her to be a cheater. I am not revealing what those other things are.

By the way I quit travelling like I used to.I am not planning to attend the tournament in jacksonville.Cheers

It has been just about a week since this happened.

Has there been any official acknowledgement from the WPBA of the incident(s) or any decision yet?

They won't put anything in print. We'll find out from a little birdie. Johnnyt

Yeah, maybe they're borrowing a chapter from an old Catholic Church crisis managment book?

It worked so well for them didn't it?

I think it all started with "I am not a crook", then went down hill from there. Johnnyt

George Breedlove called a foul on himself to lose in the finals of an IPT Qualifier. It cost him $2000 entry, not making the IPT that time, pluse travel $$. Real class act. Johnnyt

...and then you hear about Daryl Peach calling a foul on himself that no one else saw.

The issue is more complex than one realizes. The onus is on accuser to prove that 'velvet cheated'.I do not think the accuser can prove it as long as I assist 'velevet's ' attorney. cheers:cool:

In Shanghai, even in casual games between players who know the rules, it is normal and very common for players to call unseen fouls on themselves.

Happens all the time and is expected.

In my mind, people who don't call fouls on themselves put a pretty low value on their own personal integrity.

I think someone told all the little birdies NOT to come on AZ anymore. Johnnyt

I do not think that is the case at all. I think the 'board' is closing in their wagons for a private little pow-wow. When no information is being given, it cannot be passed along...so those 'little birdies' do not really have anything new to add. No point in beating a dead horse over and over.

I am sure that once the info leaks, we will be brought up to speed. :)

i would hope that once a decision is reached that a post of some type would be made. the WPBA FANS want to KNOW...

This post is not an attempt to sweep anything under the rug. It is simply a request to allow the WPBA to handle internal affairs internally...and to not crucify someone in public without all the facts.

As for the fact that some of our board members are accused of being fair and open-minded...I do not think that is unfortunate at all.

Melissa

The WPBA is the organization that is responsible for driving Jean Balukas out of the game by being arrogant enough to let her peers (who were constantly getting mud-stomped by her) decide to fine her.

I think that the impartiality of the WPBA board members has ALWAYS been in question.
