Saturday: Semifinals of 2013 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship

Shane breaks, wing ball goes in again. He doesn't have a shot on the 1. It's blocked by the 2-ball.

Jayson perks up and has hope.

Shane pushes out, leaving Jayson long and dirty. Jayson hits the 1 and leaves Shane blocked.

Shane gets blocked as he's running out, and then he leaves Jayson snookered. Poor Jayson.

Jayson has to jump again, leaves Shane wide open on the 2. He pockets it successfully. Looks like he's got a clear run-out. I don't see any problems on this run-out.

Remember in the semifinals, the player must win the match by 2 games. Not sure if that will come into effect on this game so far.

But Van-Van and Niels, it might, 4-4. I'm not sure it the 2-game applies to Van-Van and Niels. Does anybody know?

9-4, Shane.

Shane breaks, shoots the 1, and leaves himself bad on the 2. Looks like he's eyeballing a combo on the 2-4. He misses.

Jayson at the table

Jayson breaks, and the balls are in a cluster. Yuck. Back-and-forth ensues.

What a shot! Jayson makes on the 1-rock. WOW! The crowd wakes up and cheers.

Jayson attempts a really tough shot on the 3, misses, and leaves Shane wide open.

Shane shoots it in with authority. He can do anything he wants with this cueball. Shane on a run-out.

OMG! Niels Feijen pulls out ahead of Van-Van, 5-4.

Shane wins again, 10-5. On the hill and breaking for the match.

Jayson is now licking his chops, looking at Niels and Van-Van, wondering who his next opponent might be.

JAM thanks a million for the update greatly appreciated!

Oh, gosh, thanks. I have been slacking a little. Watching these great players is hypnotic, and I forget to post. LOL

Shane running out for the win here. Leaves himself on the 50-yard-line for the 7, but he cuts it in the side. SHoots the 9 in to close it out for the win. The crowd cheers.

Handshakes between the competitors.

So will Shane have to lose two matches this evening since it is a double elimination tourny?

I see Shane has adopted Efren's "I got lucky" interview strategy after throttling his opponents.
