SBE Allen really got greedy this year!

My guess is Joss and Mezz are paying those entry fees themselves as a perk for those two tours.

Why would you guess that? We wouldn't mention that they receive paid entries if someone else was paying them. We donate a free paid entry to each tour for them to award to their champion. So, we add that money to the prizepool.

Actually, your quick math failed you. 2015 total payout was $41,000, not $47,500. Therefore, the prize money increased by $6,000.

So, by my quick math for the pro 10-ball, your payout has decreased by $500.00 for 2016 over 2015.

2016=$47,000.00
2015=$47,500.00

The payout is just not as deep this year, rewarding the higher finishers.

I can't tell, is it Diamond or Allen Hopkins sponsoring the Pro 10 Ball event, or someone else because read the fine print about who gets their entry fee for free;)

We produce the event. We have obtained Diamond as a naming-rights sponsor.

We pay entry fees for people/players that we donate them to, such as our previous champion and the winners of the tours mentioned.

Thanks, this is what I come up with too.

But, then again, I'm just using a spreadsheet and working alongside my father and combined we only have a little experience in producing events and dealing with people spreading false information.

My apologies for the error. Should have opened Excel to do it correctly.

And for the record, I am NOT in anyway trying to spread false information about your event.

My only ***** is that it is not on the west coast where I could attend and spend money there.

A $20.00 entry is nothing! I spend more on lunch everyday.

Tell your dad I said hi, and you guys are doing everything right in my book.....beats the deadbeats that would rather complain than step up and actually do something themselves.....so they can show everyone how to do it RIGHT....LOL

I may not be the biggest allen fan but if you put on an event where more people show up every year and all the players get paid, I say supply and demand. The man should profit so he wants to do it again next year. No need to b%$#ch.

BTW they raised the Open Amateur fee from $75 to $95 this year too.

I spoke to Allen tonight about the lack of VIP seating. He wanted to get more seats in the arena.
He was on the run so we didn't talk about the $$

I imagine he is getting some of the PPV $$ too.

Please note. The payouts to the Pros or the Amateurs have NOT INCREASED this year either!!!!

Extra $20 from close to 1000 players so ballpark close to $20K extra entry fees
But they increased payout for Open Amateurs by $21K from $48K last year to $69K. so increase in entry fees did go to payouts. In fact they added bit more

So yes, you owe Allen an apology . We all make mistakes
And that "SBE Allen really got greedy this year! " is unnecessary and an impulsive one

God forbid anyone jumping the gun on AZB without knowing all the facts.....shit, facts are for losers and have no meaning in the real world....of AZB;)

Nobody is allowed to make money. I say be happy that the show was enjoyed. I did not hear any complaints about the vendors or competition. Was parking free? I did not hear any complaints about the food courts, bathrooms, parking lots, smoking areas. How many police did we see. None. The crowd was as civil and pleasant as can be. The area itself..... Everyone feel safe and secure. I did. Maybe the SBE should be held in center city Phila or New York City....if so watch your car, cues and your back. This was my first time at Oaks. I went to the 1st and second at Valley Forge. I'd would definitely recommend SBE to any pool enthusiast. And I would suggest getting there early...find/buy that beautiful piece of equipment before someone else does.

No time to read all.
Paid to watch some pool right now as always.
Bleachers are far from full.
Bad move getting rid of VIP AL.

I guess it's time for me to head back over and blow even MORE money at this event.
SO EXCITED!
It only comes around once a year guys.

Special thanks to Allen for starting this fantastic event ages ago.

All you butthurt people that are mad.
Get over your cheap ass selves.

That's the spirit! I think the OP is the only unhappy one

Got some news for ya folks, if you check your history you'll find that this isn't the only time Allen Hopkins has been accused of making to much money at the expense of "the pool players"....happens every time the SBE comes around:thumbup:

Then I'd suggest Allen cut down the bleacher seating to just enough seating to cover those that care enough about this event....to show up and NOT complain....just think about how much more money he could save!

This thread is a good example of why I ain't investing money into any pool-related project.

My good friend Tom-Tom came out with a book that took years to write and cost a lot of dough to publish, and he got raked through the coals for the asking price by many members of mainstream pool. The seasoned players, of course, understand why it's a good book to have in your pool library and worth every penny.

I remember getting pissed off when I read my bill from the Volvo dealer that had a line item of 82 cents for turning screw. I raised the dickens with them for such an idiotic charge. Then the manager said to me, "But, ma'am, you're paying for the mechanic's wisdom to know which screw to turn." :grin-square:

Allen Hopkins Sr. is one of the most sincere pool peeps I know. He actually does care -- really care -- about the players. Most don't know how much it costs to run an event as large as the Super Billiards Expo. If they did, they'd keep their pie-hole shut and enjoy the show.

Hi Jam
Like you. I respect and admire Allen but I have to disagree. Even if certain people could understand what it took to put on a show like the Expo. They would still ***** because when it's all said and done. That's who they are.
