I'm selling my 1981 Schon S-14.
Amazing shape and very rare. Comes with two original shafts. 19.5 oz.

If the cue does really play like pure magic you should sell it for sure. What's the price?

Well

I hate to be a grinch or just an ass, but how about listing a price and we wont have to play these silly raindear games.......

Sorry guy, no games I was just trying to get a feel of peoples interest. I'm really having a hard time parting with this cue and I thought this would speed up the process for me. $2400.00

Nice

What a great cue!!!! Love it.

Do you have any history on it: past owners, any refinishes, has the buttcap been replaced??

Thanks,
Bill

Parting with the Schon...

I don't believe you have anything to worry about as far as having a difficult time parting with this cue at $2400.00. Looks like you be holding on to it for a while...Good Luck with your sale!

That is a beauty of a cue I don't blame you for being high on the price ... I would really have to consider selling it ... That is a S series that came out before the R series ... Very pretty cue ...

I know 2400 is high but it's such a rare cue that I wanted to start things off high. I personally believe it's the best made Schon ever. There has never been a post for another S-14 on this site and there probably won't ever be another one. There is only one other person that I know about that has one.
The person I bought it from said it was all original but looking at the butt cap that might have been replaced at some point, I'm not sure. The wrap has the green specs in it like the original and is in good shape for being so old.

Hello Bill, the but cap must have been replaced, because the one pictured is certainly wrong for the cues time frame. The owner said above it was purchased in 1984, so there can be know mistake. I would suspect that the entire cue has been refinished, because the early production Schon cues I have seen were wrapped with Courtand if they used this color linen, the wrap material pictured is certainly not Courtland.

However, if all is still straight, shafts and the cues butt, it is certainly a great old cue, however, $2400 is really reaching.

Take Care

I never said it was purchased in 1984. It was made in 1981.

I must have made a mistake, however, my point is the same the butt cap was replaced, or this was a cue that was assembled by Schon later from parts. They were doing this through the early 1990's, for anyone who order the older designs, and it was not uncommon. However, the cue may have been refinished by Schon, and during the refinish the butt cap may have been replaced or just re-stamped.

But, since you are not the original owner we will never know.

Take care

It is a little high but I take it as a sign of somone who has a really nice older cue that is really in no hurry to part with it ... If I had a cue like this I would put a high price on it and if someone met it then that would be great but I would certainly miss the cue ... If no one bought it what am I out I still have a really rare and beautiful cue ...

The cue is really in beautiful shape for the age of it ... I would say that someone possibly having it refinished is not totally out of the question ... That was the first thing I thought when I saw what shape it was in . The butt cap is certainly not of that time frame ... I had a Schon R-11 I traded to Koinnkid when I first got on AZ ... I feel I got a good deal on the trade but every once in a while I sure miss that cue they have some of the sweetest hits I have ever hit with ...

2400.00 I would not pay that for it myself ... But if I really did'nt want to sell it or was undecided I would price it like that ... If I had it I would just keep it ... ;)

I too can understand the price on this cue. If it was mine, no way in hell I would sell it. It would take extremely dire circumstances or an unrefusable offer. I have an old R12/15 that I've had since 85 that is unique and rather rare itself. I've only seen one other like it and that one had different color veneers. No way I'd sell it. Too much sentimental value in it. I hope you decide to keep it. If not, good luck with the sale!

Nice cue . . .

but I believe I've seen one or two of those on e-Bay (good cond) during the last year in the sub $1000 range . . . I could be wrong, but as another poster said, I think $2400 is way over the top of the market for that cue. Your way ahead to keep it and enjoy the magic.

None of these on ebay! You seen a R14 and they went for $1200+ This has redish brown phenolic joint collars only the 1st year S series has it!The R series is black and a couple years ago it would have brought $2500.
