I think he does. I've watched them both play alot! But what do I know... Ask bartram since he has played pinoys alot.

You might end up being one of those guys that isn't open minded thinking nobody will ever be better than efren.

i never played efren but out of all the players i have played orcullo is the best.

This reminds me of how people said randy brown was just amazing and they probably think he could beat me... but i saw him hit balls and I know I could've given him the last 3 or 4.
 
I'm glad we have this thread. I wish there were more Chris' and Donny's in pool today. I can remember in years gone by when we used to sit in the practice room and argue about who was the best all around player, and the discussion would get really heated. And I'm talking about sitting around with Jersey Red, Kelly, Ronnie, Diliberto, Mataya, Lisciotti and guys like that. They would really get into it and start talking about matching up. They cared back then! Today only a handful of players really care who is the best anymore. Someone else said something similar on this thread a while back. The enthusiasm for pool has waned in this country. Not so in Taiwan, China and the Philippines.

Dennis Hatch in the Mosconi Cup was a huge breath of fresh air. He reminded me of Richie when he used to get so intense. When that happened, he was unbeatable!

You are obviously too young to have seen Buddy Hall play for the cash 30 years ago or you would never make a comment like that. I don't think there's anyone who saw him play back then that doesn't think he was the best ever. In the 70's and early 80's Buddy would play PERFECT 9 ball all night long. Even when Efren came over and was beating everybody even he didn't want any part of Buddy. He would beat other pros even when they were playing their very best.

I also saw Mosconi do a few exhibitions when he was well past his prime and he was still better at straight pool than anyone today. He would run 100+ balls at will and with less effort than anyone today.

I'm not saying buddy wasn't great or the best of his time. For one 30 years ago they didn't play safe or kick as good as now. I think maybe efren brought that here.

i am not going to rodney king this BUT

why has this gone on this far? we will never know the answer to this post..even if pool players have gotten better who really cares if they could beat the greats from the past? they are the ones that have paved the way for the players of today.i say we enjoy the game and dont forget the grinders and gamblers and great champs of the past and the ones doing it today...and try to make pool the best we can..i dont think that we can accomplish anything by posting the old guns against the new guns...lets just come as one and play some great POOL... that is what i like to see weither it is by a guy who is no longer around on video or the guys such as cb,dm,svb, or the many posters on here.. Mosconi ran 589 balls in practice at 60 years of age! Charlie Ursetti witnessed it.
