Scott Frost's opinion about Predator tables

chat is good but it would be cool to see a visual comparison of diamonds vs the field, with explanations why diamonds are better
That's simple to answer, Diamonds hold up forever, no different than Gold Crowns, they'll both stand the test of time, and hacks working on them. You can't say that about any other commercial pool tables built today, by ANYONE, nuff said!!

I think if I had to pick one table to play on period, it would still be a Brunswick GC.
And I've seen and worked on plenty of GC's that have been destroyed by everyone working on them in the past, so don't include ALL GC's in your statement!

I've seen this all my life, We have and need both, We in the USA are based on our freedoms, This should hurt neither. I say the best to the pro player and the industry and carry on... Guy

Well, I wouldn't count on GC's anymore, Brunswick sold their billiards business off 2 years ago, so Brunswick isn't standing behind anything pool related anymore!

Even PRO'S have a speed limit to where a table just plays to damn fast to control the cue ball, so I wouldn't hold that against ANY Pro player today!!! When playing pool, SPEED KILLS!!! When a table plays lightning fast, it's NOT A POOL TABLE ANYMORE! ITS A JOKE!!
No man
I agree that the Predator table appeared to be a nightmare.
Running long and rolling unpredictably.

After seeing the Rasson being set up at the expo, it may be my next table order over a diamond. They are supposed to be working on a ball return soon, but the metal frame is a huge selling point for me. The table played very solid!!
I'm not sure I'd call those small aluminum box beams solid. I did think table did play well, but I'd to see what happens to one after 10 or 20 years.

Glen,
Just a thought. Some day obviously, you and I will both be gone. When that happens, you will take alot of valuable knowledge with you. Have you ever entertained the idea of passing on the knowledge that you have gained over the years via YouTube, or some kind of subscription based courses? If you already do something like this, no worries...if not, it might be something to consider.

If Predator was all about the game, they'd be selling their tables everywhere, but instead, they're soliciting locations with Diamond 7fts, trading their Predator tables straight across for the Diamonds, then selling the Diamonds to get their money back! But if you own a room with 30 Valley tables, they're NOT interested in trading their shit for more shit, because they can't sell them for shit!!! So, WHY are they only following Diamond tables around? Can't sell their shit like everyone else has had to do?
Yeah I can’t imagine a car dealership not wanting to give the same trade value for a Corolla that they do the Porsche.

Obviously they don’t love the driving industry.

AND they WON'T finance that bar owner with the 30 valley 7fts in order to get their tables on location, how about that shit! Diamond does that, all day long, and twice on Sunday!!
They’re not a bank. Why would they? I wouldn’t. A bar/pool hall has always been considered a high risk lend.

There may be legitimate reasons to not like Predator but your expectations for good business are way off.

I'm kind of working on a YouTube channel now, teaching how to correctly work on pool tables, have a lot of viewers already, but it's hard to find the time to actually post real training videos, but it's on my lost to at least get through everything you need to know about working on Valleys and Diamonds, so that at least there's that knowledge out there.

If I had the time, and really wanted to, I could continue redesigning the Diamond pool tables and take them to an unbelievable level that no table manufacturer on this planet could touch! But, the real question is, do I need to?

Diamond isn't a bank either, yet they fund pool tables all the time, at virtually zero risk, I should know, I talked them into doing it.

Resale value of Diamonds now is better than gold.
My 9 foot diamonds just sold for 9k and they are 8 years old.
I bought them used, with lights in a couple purchases 6 years ago for 4000 to 5500.

Diamond had not changed the exterior appearance much, which holds resale value.

I saw the new brown prc table at Super Billiards Expo...very nice. Gave it a kinda upscale appearance in the right setting.

I have a question.

There's a pool hall here that has a mix of caroms, 8 and 9 footers. There's a table there that I like to invite 1pkt action on that plays ridiculously fast. The ball seems to just keep rolling.
It's seemes to be a thicker cloth and it's really slick. I suspect it some sort of carom cloth that's been put on a pool table.

So the question is, is that why it so fast? Is carom cloth that much faster?

No, they like trading a Predator for a Diamond, so they actually have something worthwhile to sell!!

Absolutely!!!

This is a great idea. Finding folks who are interested in this type of work, and guiding them to competency in the field, is both noble, and good for the game.
😎

That’s great if it works for them but I wouldn’t begrudge a company for passing on that risk. Halls, bars, restaurants are high risk lending as most small businesses don’t make it.

I get your loyalty etc but that type of financing isn’t a common thing.

Perhaps Diamond has selective financing or extremely tough criteria because I doubt I could show up tomorrow fresh off the boat and land a dozen or two dozen diamonds fully financed.

I bet it’s a significant down payment to offset the risk.
