My earliest memory of seeing Scott in person was at the 1977 World 14.1 Championship. He came from Colorado lured by the $50k prize fund. When he got there they let him know we were only playing for the $17,000 of entry fees and there was no added money, but he didn't have to enter if he didn't want to. He did play, but maybe that convinced him to get into the announcing/organizing side of things rather than playing.

Scott was first class. The way he introduced the players , their background, along with maybe a humorous factoid, Michael Coltrain with the train whistle and if it was hill hill on one of the tabes, he would announce "We got action on table #". He brought energy and excitement to any tournament he worked.
