Secrets of Pool Hustling Video

Cash!!! That's where it's at. You can't spend trophies.

I had this video back in the 90's. Loved it then and now for the comedy value. Ha!

Trophies don't spend.

An oldie but goodie. I'll watch it nearly every time someone reposts it.

Thanks for putting that up Lenny. I bet "Pretty Boy" took a lot of heat from the other pro road players and hustlers back then for that video. If you take all the I play for the cash and other I,I,I BS out, it is exactly how you hustle. You have to play well but not great, know how to think up a con for every situation, and know how to dress and act. It was done more as a comedy I think, but it was right on the money (cash) :). You can tell Jimmy hung out with "Fats", a lot of him rubbed off on "Pretty Boy". Cool video. Johnnyt

 thanks Lenny.
Last time you posted the short version I waited and played it in front of Jimmy and his friends, we all laughed. Jimmy is a character.
Thanks again.

Super cheese ball....

I always enjoyed watching stuff on Ricky Jay. He's a genius with cards, pure talent. Also a great historian on the subject of cons and hustling.

I started watching this video a couple months ago and couldn't find it again to finish, though pretty much everything he says he says in the first 10 minutes then repeats himself a hundred times through the rest of it, does anyone have any real on this guy? Some one on this forum had to have played him at some point if his claims of traveling are true, but when he says he has never lost any money...bs, and plenty of tournaments have a good pay out, if he was as good at pool as he claims think you'd see him playing for big money in pro's...think his best hustle was selling that vid lol

Wait wait what? I thought all you got from tournaments were trophies and that you can't buy a rolls royce with trophies!!!!!

I've been looking for a way to collect dust and I've finally found one thanks to this video..... Trophies!

Pretty Boy Floyd is also known as Jim Mataya.

He's legit.

I can't remember any major wins off the top of my head, but he took second at the McDermott Masters tourney in 1992? to Earl Strickland, who was playing better than anyone ever at the time.

Jimmy was one of the names everyone knew 20 years ago.

Cool video, Lenny, thanks for posting. I'd never seen that one before, and I lol'd.

Thanks for posting this Lenny. I actually this Jimmy missed his calling as an actor. I could see him doing some off broadway improv

He was also married to the "Striking Viking" for awhile.. Johnnyt

Just as embarrassing now as ever.

PS- A top 3 money player of the 90's is now living in his car.

Top 3 means they have a car to sleep in;) lucky there not 4th or more, they'd be sleeping on someone's couch;) I hate saying that, but its a shi!!y fact!

One time he had made a LOT of cash and his mgr/backer told him- Just buy a small place-you can guarantee yourself a roof over your head for life now-do it!

He didnt, Others didnt (think dippy scorers) at least one or two IPT winners/runners up didnt- Amazing!

It's about 90% they will do the same thing next time also if they get a second chance.
