Lots of good advice in this whole thread

The one and only time I risked carrying a tremendous sum of money for more than 100 yards I ...
carry an armed guard with two nickel-plated .45 automatics and a "I don't care if I kill you" attitude to match.
Nickel-plating not necessary, but if you're going to shoot someone, no one says you can't do it in style.
Once again, sage advice from the very smartest young guy we have on AZB.
Just a few notes to add....
1. A pro stick up man (men) is not likely to just barge in to a club or room and do a mass hold up. Very rarely does this occur, and when it does, it's usually someone who is in desperate need of the money for the drug withdrawl they're experiencing.
2. A good stick up man will more than likely make his move on the road before or after the proceedings. A common trick is just before things wrap up, one of them goes outside and sticks a tire of the person they're interested in. Then, once they're a few miles down some road, they pull over to change the flat. Usually, this all occurs at night. Even if it's a busy road, how many times do we see a car with a flat tire have another car stopped behind them to "help"? Most passerby's would not even think twice that what they saw was a robbery. Just as equally cunning is to just wait until the next day or so, when the big winner's guard is likely to be down. There are way too many ruses to list them all here.
3. Iba7467's words of wisdom are hard to beat, although I think it's better to have two guys with heat than one guy with two pieces. And just a little comment on the nickel finish....no good tactically for two reasons.
If someone is carrying a nickel plated handgun in their waistband behind an open coat or shirt, it's much easier to catch a glimpse of it than a blued or matte finish. And two, if you happen to be hunkered down at night in a gunfight, believe me, the nickle is the same as a flouresant light. It does reflect whatever light is around. Plus, nickle plated .45's only have 7 round magazine capacities, plus one up top. The double stacked Glocks or Springfield Armory .45's have 13 round magazines, plus one up top.
4. I think that it's always prudent to be vigilant and aware of your surroundings. But there are a lot more better "targets' than a pool player who just scored. Not only is that a very rare breed, but the life expectancy of a pool players money is measured in hours, not days or weeks.

The robber has to act quick to actually catch a pool player with some money on him or her.
5. To add to these august festivities, we need Johnny T to wade in here with his thoughts on the subject.
