Self policing the forum-Good or bad?

- Appointing yourself voluntary hall monitor - Dork Level 1

- Posting a thread hoping for support of unwanted dorkery - Dork Level 3

- After not receiving expected support, assume other people don't understand, and are basically selfish *****s, unlike your awesome self - Dork Level 5 super combo Boss secret level.

Given that you contact people by PM and are even remotely surprised by their profanity laced replies, and again you were surprised that you did not receive support in this thread for your self-policing idea, it appears the person who doesn't quite understand, is you.

But, keep patting yourself on the back thinking you are making the world a better place if you like. Knock yourself out :D

:thumbup2::thumbup2::thumbup2::thumbup2::thumbup2::thumbup2::thumbup2::thumbup2::thumbup2:

Awfully touchy fella, isn't he?

I find it incredibly annoying personally. I don't mind someone pointing out the rules to new posters. But playing mod when you aren't one is annoying as hell to me.

I also believe, that if they want more moderators the people in charge, the owners of the forum would ask. If they haven't asked then you should probably not try and pretend to be one.

I agree. Overplaying the role of self appointed forum cop makes some of these guys look like such dorks.:)

Wow, the OP has peculiarly disappeared. Clearly the responses to this thread have rubbed his ego the wrong way. Can we please get back to the actual POOL discussion now???

I didn't "disappear". I just lost interest in trying to make the forum better for everyone to enjoy. Because as it seems, all the people that complain when I try and remind them of the rules are the ones who continually break them. Why is that I wonder? My guess is because they don't give a shit about anyone but themselves and their buddies here. Because if they did, they would just follow the rules and understand it for the good of the forum. But... screw it! You guys can keep on doing what your doing so long as it doesn't effect you, right? RIGHT?

And then, after all the years I've been here I make a mistake in the for sale section. I bumped a sale up a little early and you gave me one of your polite warnings. Along with the only red feedback I've ever had. How polite of you.

"A" mistake? Really? Really??

You have ZERO right to make this comment in this thread.

You started the thread in question on 11-19-2013. And from there....

11-20 1:32am

bump for the night crew

11-20 9:25am

good morning.

11-20 1:18pm

movin on up

Then from ideologist on 11-20 1:20pm

Please only bump once in a 48 hour period, not 5 times a day...

And you're response......

11-21 8:42 am

good morning. Thanks for looking

11-21 7:19pm after a post from "Thewizard" in your thread.....

Thanks friend. How about rent to own??

And then after another post from "Thewizard" on 11-22

11-23 12:48pm

It was kind of a joke. But thanks for the post. Don

So, asking you to follow the rules after you COMPLETELY IGNORED them was out of the question on my part? Gee.... I'm so sorry that I asked you to follow the rules of the forum. I didn't realized that you were special and above the rules. It won't happen again.

Can you post a copy of one of your warning emails so we can judge the tone?

I'm sorry, I do not have one saved in my outbox. I do have this one however that I sent to another member after he posted in my for sale thread.

Thanks but..... - 03-07-2013, 10:29 PM
Hi Tang,

While I appreciate the bump on my thread, I would ask that you refrian from posting in my thread with comments as you did. I truely thank you for the nice words but it is against the rules of the forum.

Kind regards,
Tom

So as you can see, I do try and follow the rules even when it effects me. I'm sorry it's so hard for some of you to understand.

And in case you missed it......

I am done posting in this thread. I no longer wish to try and help solve the problem that so many of you would rather just ignore because it doesn't suit YOUR needs.

The trouble with self policing an internet forum is that those who feel the urge to do the policing tend to be the last ones qualified to police anything besides their own bowels.

And maybe a junior high hallway.

Ok, several things here..

I'm calling you straight out to name who exactly said they have less than 10 min a day to do anything here...

Add to that the report buttons work just fine, so who and what have you reported that went to a mailbox that is unattended?

I answer dozens of messages and emails from here on any given day myself. Who knows what Mike and Jerry do on their side?

The people who want to make a friendly reminder to people who are breaking rules are fine, but if you think you've got the ground to insist on some enforcement, you need to check yourself.

As mentioned, a simple PM will bring it to specific people's attention.

If you think for a second that buying memberships get you anything other than more PM space and sig...you again are mistaken. I ban people regardless of their paid membership nearly every day.
What else should I add?

Sorry Dave but I just now saw this post. In fairness, I do not want to name the person in the public forum but I can certainly send you his name via PM. And, I have the PM's from this Moderator to back up the story and I will gladly forward them to you if you like.

<edit> pm forwarded.

It's bad enough to get a ticket from a poster policeman
.....but....
..does he have to to put his foot on my keyboard?

48 hours. Time for a new clock?

Can't even step up and help out by purchasing a Gold Membership, and here he is telling the Owners and Mods on how the Forums should be run.

Ok....here's what you're talking about:
Of the more than 2,000 posts we get every day I doubt our staff has the time to read even 10% of them

Of everything you forwarded...this is the ONLY thing that refers to the number 10 at all.

So....what is the 10 minuet correlation?

rule breaker!!!!

Oh c'mon now....47 hours and 40 minutes is close enough isn't it??? Apparently the ability to follow the rules to the letter is up for interpretation only by a select few forum cop wannabees.

OP makes me think of this...

The report button works well, as long as there is merit to the report. I find the mods to be very responsive.
