Send Mike Wong to the U.S. Open

I'm with you Matt B. Give the guy a break. At least, don't roast him in his own thread.

JoeyA

Okay.....I get the point he's not popular with some of you but give a guy a break......it took gumption and a lot of guts to write that post....the guy was being candid.
Nowadays a lot of folks can use a helping hand from time to time........were it not for the good graces of God, you or I might find ourselves in need of a little help.

Matt B.

I'm in for a group effort if someone sets it up.

Count me in too. I'm all for players going to the US open.

Yes, let's not make this into a roast of a thread. I just posted the 2012 match because someone asked if there was video of him playing. And after watching it, I found it extremely entertaining.

Mike, it doesn't matter if you have a slow-paced style. If that's your thing, then stick with it. You had Earl 5-5 in that match. Not bad at all.

If you set up a Go Fund Me account, I'll be in there. There's a lot of influence here at AZ and yes, it takes a ton to just put yourself out there like you did.

Thank you guys I am appreciative for any help, I actually posted the same post on Facebook and I had some interest there also. Roberto Gomez and Frankie Hernandez were kind enough to say some nice words and vouch for my abilities as well. I believe Frankie is correct, that I cashed in the last 3 US Open events I played, which was before they raised the entry fee to $750 and/or $1000, so I did not attend last year. My best finish at the US Open was 33rd, but that was a few years ago, and I believe I play much better now. I also sped up my game somewhat if that is the point of interest to most people. But, I am the type of player that wants to bear down on every shot, and may slow down under pressure, so maybe I will never be a fast player. For the people that know me personally, I think most would say that I'm a honest and stand up guy, which are qualities you would want when sponsoring or backing a player.

If 20 guys who like to gamble and would like to have a player to sweet in the U.S. Open .
If each put up 50 your in.
You also have expenses and that's not cheap either .
Good luck

Mike is a decent player, plays very slow and takes his time on every shot. He plays real hard all the time and gives his best. With that being said. If your mad at your money than sponsor mike. Lol I'm just playing mike I wish you luck on getting a sponsor. But if you wanna play me some even 9 ball. I will play you a race to 15 for $1,000. Winner break, and we use the magic rack, and called 9 ball only. So let me know what you wanna do since the last time we were at a tournament you wouldn't play me. Maybe you can win $1,000 and put yourself in the U.S. Open and not sweat a stake horse.

That is the best offer, IMO.

Or...wait for it...

Vinny if you like to come to Steinway, we can post 2 sets. I can get staked here. We can play rack your own 9-ball or 10-ball. Playing with the magic rack is just stupid.

I will never play you rack your own. You cheat. I will play you with a natural racker or with the magic rack. We can bet a lot more if we play with a 25 second shot clock

Isn't WONG the guy who tried to rip off the design your dream contest when he submitted a design for the cue, when he already had that design on the cue he played with?
He was subsequently eliminated from becoming a finalist.
Who knows. Maybe that's what soured the cue maker on his initial generosity, and caused him to shaft the winner.

Hi guys,

This is Mike Wong. I wanted to know if anyone was interested in putting me in the U.S. Open 9-ball? Group efforts are welcome also.

I’m playing well, and as most people know, I play hard every time I’m at the table. I’d like to get some good people behind me. I know I might get some criticism for asking for help online, but times are tough! My decision to pursue this game has forced me to make sacrifices in life, including relationships, careers, and money, but I’m not giving up, I’m still going hard at it.

On a side note, if anyone thinks they can make some good money or a score with me, please let me know! I’m looking to travel and get out of NY.

Thank You. God Bless! :thumbup::clapping:

#keepfighting #nevergiveup

???what???

Hi Vinny, I made you an offer for a game if you don't like it, you don't have to play. Everyone knows I'm not a fast-paced, so whatever you said, you did so just to irk me. I'm asking you nicely to please stop, because I'm not really interested in talking nonsense, or talking about hypothetical games that will never happen. If you want to play my offer still stands. Thank You.

Superstar/Raphael, yes you are correct. I submitted a sketch for a cue, which I had previously commissioned by another cue maker Mike Bender. However, what you don't know is I played with the Bender cue for 6 months, but I didn't care for the way it played, even after having the shafts re-tapered. I'm sure a player like yourself knows what it feels like to be uncomfortable with a cue, it's not a good feeling. The cue was very stiff and not lively enough for me. Therefore, I later sold the cue. Bill Stroud started a contest to design a dream cue, and I submitted the same sketch, of course hoping that my design would be chosen. My sketch made it to the last 8 maybe? Why do you consider that unethical? I was still searching for a cue, Bill Stroud makes great cues, and I liked most of his cues I tried. I figured I give it a shot to see if this legendary cue maker would make me a cue.

LOL.
The premise of the defunct contest was original designs. Not designs already made.
But that's of no significance now because he shafted everyone in the contest anyway.
People can decide for themselves if they care to look it up.

Good luck with your fundraising.

I get people needing a little help from time to time. But this dude says times are tough and wants people to pay for him to play pool. I've helped out two different people on here. Never heard back from one of them after I sent the money, and the other promised to send me a copy of his book for my help...never heard from him again either. Count me out.

I'll throw 25 at you MW, just because you have sped up your game and have balls to put up the thread. Who is collecting the money ?
