Shady Business Practices Need An Opinion?

after reading just half the post, gartland was my thought, even before you mentioned him.

if it makes you feel any better, you were not the first he's done this to.

chris G<----------knows ron's word is gold

My thoughts exactly!

This Is Partially My Fault.....

I Owned The Cue Ron Traded Away Several Times, And Never Realized It Was A 59" Cue. Ron Got The Cue From Me And I Didn't Mention It Was 59" In My Thread Because I Didn't Know It Was 59"

I Was Called An Asshole (by The Other Party) To Ron, For Selling The Cue And Not Disclosing That It Was A 59" Cue....... Has Anybody Heard Of An Honest Mistake?

As Far As The Deal, I Would Have Axed It As Soon As He Wanted Me To Pay For Tips....the Best Part Of The Tip Change Is, The Best Playing Shaft Was The One With The Low Tip On It. Sometimes It's Better To Leave Good Things Alone. It's Not Like It Was Low On An Ivory Ferrule. But I Guess You'd Have To Hit Balls With It, To Know That.

I sold a cue to a fellow AZ member that was 59 inches. He called me asked me about it. I felt like a idiot because I had no idea. He ended up keeping it, so i guess lesson learned. I do have to say I try to stay away from the big time cue collectors and sellers. There is a lot of aspects of cues that I do not notice. There is a few members here I would not trade with or sell anything too. Its not because I feel they are bad people or they are unresonable. For example there has been cues that I have looked at and people have said well thats been refinished and I had no idea.

Q=====> What's the differance between street and cue pimps?

A=====>Street pimps know their merchandise...:D

return his cue man. 1 inch can be a big difference. i think he should have noted that while he was inspecting the cue before shipping his to you. if you end up breaking even on his returning things the way they were than id say it's up to you either way. i wouldn't say you're wrong for saying what's done is done or sure i'll trade back.

That's the other thing - honest mistakes DO occur and you shouldn't get raked over the coals for them; however, all we need here is a simple form for sellers, that lists specs. This isn't rocket science, but I'll give an example: you have a line that says "cue length: xxxx" and you have to fill it in. If we had a simple required list of specs like this, it would help sellers NOT FORGET to mention such things.

Scott <=== has suggested this at least twice and has never gotten a single response from anyone, yet buyers continue to ***** and sellers continue to forget.

I think I might put something together on excel. Then convert it to PDF.

SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA, BUT YOU ALSO NEED TO LIST WHERE THE MEASUREMNETS SHOULD BE TAKEN. I'VE HAD THE SHAFT MEASUREMENT ARGUMENT AT LEAST 10 TIMES.

Yep, balance point '2 inches above wrap' tells you nothing. It would be pretty easy to post a sample list and then have other AZ'ers chime in with suggested 'tweeks'. Even if it weren't made a rule to use the list, potential buyers could ask a seller with a fuzzy description to 'please use the spec list'.

Since I am stuck home for awhile I will try to put something together. It will be a work in progress. I will get a rough draft together today and post it in the cue gallery. Please post suggestions or mistakes there. Hopefully we all can come up with something good. I guess we should try to make it as detailed as possible. Such as joint diameters, diameter end of butt. ect.

The Other Party Involved In This Mess States He Has Shipped My Cue, Case, And Cash Back To Me And That I Will Have It Tomorrow. I Will Then Return His Cue Back To Him Express Mail Insured. I Will Save The Shipping Receipt Until It Decays Cause You Never Know What Scam Might Be Pulled. Once Again I Have Learned My Lesson On Dealing With Certain People Here On Az. It Will Never Happen Again.

Now In Case You Are Wondering Why The Mystery Party Has Not Responded To Any Comments Posted In The Thread I Started Your Guess Is As Good As Mine. I Have On The Other Hand Received A Few Somewhat Nasty Pm's Lol. It Could Be Because My Long Story Is The Absolute Truth And There Is Nothing To Debate. My Opinion Of Course.

All I Can Say Is That This Gentleman Had The Cue He Was Accepting In Trade In His Hands And Then Wants To Get Out Of The Deal. Right, wrong, crazy, eccentric, Etc Whatever You Want To Call It Im Avoiding Future Problems Here And Will Make This Guy Happy To Avoid Future Problems.

Thanks
Ron

Ron

if you knew the stories i know about him, the list would be very short of the people that deal with him.

he did it to himself. that's why he won't respond.

chris G<----has seen it with his own eyes

Hey Ron,
I was wondering about that myself???
Just another F***ing A**Hole that we can cross of the list.
Lol
Thanks Chris

59" cue may be a problem to some but the problem with cue flippers is there not concerned how a cue plays, there only concerned with making a few dollars. I have played with 57" (jw) 58" (mottey') and my old skip (59") and the lenght wasn't a problem on any of them because they all play great. The lenght is a point of interest for most cue buyers and they have there reasons but until you hit with a cue you really dont know how it will play. My old scruggs mizerak cue was 60" and it played like a dream. Skips 59" cue plays great..a few here on az have owned it and flipped it.There are many factors about cues that can make a deal right or wrong. I recently bought a madden cue from hunter here on az(he offered to fully refund my money). He said the weght was 20.1 oz and when I got it one shaft on it made it weigh 20.7oz. I kinda worried alittle about resale and crap like that and called jack up and asked about lowering the weight. After chatting with Jack he said play with it and then decide. I did and I can say it sure dont feel like 20 plus and hits as good as any and that and my mottey are my players and won't sell the madden(unless the price is right:D ) I siad no way it goes back. People at my local pool hang out ask wtf is that beauty and hit with it and they never say it feels heavy and most play with light meucci cues. If your going to be a cue flipper then you have to assume the risks, things are not always going to be perfect and there are a few basic questions that should always be asked before any deal...weight,straight,shaft diam.,LENGTH,condition. I would figure somone who has done numerous deals and says they are the BEST in the business would know WTF to ask before they do a deal.JMO

Well I suppose another one bites the dust, without even being named. It's funny how dishonest people like to stay in the shadows. At least we all know who the individual is, without the person who started the thread even mentioning it.

All I can say is this thread has served a purpose, and Quality Cues, has just gone up in Flames and Smoke. Some people just do not get it, when dealing on the Internet, there is nothing more important than credibility, and when that is gone, you may never get it back. Dishonest behavior, and thinking only about ones self will not get you anywhere long term.

Oh and by the way, changing ones user name will not last long term either, your world will continue to get smaller and smaller until you will have no where to hide.;)

Thanks very much, to the person who started this thread, this is how we protect our community!!!!!!!
