Shane and Mike vs The World

Thanks for posting, I love watching this tournament. Interested to see dechaine and svb pair up.

Are they using that ridiculous break rule again with the x number of balls above the head string??

Can't wait, will be exciting, definitely rooting to US!!

Mike and Shane are probably two of the five best breakers in the world when a break box is in use, whether the "three balls rule" is used or not. Their chances go down if the break is from anywhere in the kitchen. Both are very experienced playing with a shot clock, and that's another plus.

Still, even a trip to the semis in this event takes really great play. International teams in recent memory that will offer a stiff test to anyone and everyone are: a) Philippines Orcullo and Van Cortezza ,b) Netherlands Feijen and Vandenberg, c) Taiwan Ko and Chang, d) England Appleton and Boyes, and e) Germany Hohmann and Souquet. Shane and Mike are capable of beating any of them, but can also lose to any of them.

This is the team that gives the USA it's best shot at the World Cup, and I wish them luck.

I think Biado and Kiamco are representing the Phillippines instead of Orcullo and Lee Van.

I like these guys, they play pool the right way - fearless, fast and aggressive. If they gel as a pair they could take that into the MC, and then you'd have a chance.

Different personalities, but they may just work together.

I always figured you for a Souquet and Ebdon fan,

As a rookie in the MC, Mike choked a little. IMO Shane is nowhere near 100% when playing doubles. Probably UK again, as they are good, there playing at home, and they have two teams. Johnnyt

Could this also be a preview for these two together on this years Mosconi Cup team.

We know Shane is a lock.

Also, whether you're a Mike D. fan or not, he probably should be on this years MC team. I know he needs very good finishes at Turning Stone and The U.S. Open 9-Ball to be guaranteed a spot. However, even if he falls short, he could be a Captain's Choice.

I wish both the best of play at perhaps both events.

Carlo Biado and Warren Kiamco just won the gold medal at the 9-Ball doubles event of the Southeast Asian Games this past June. I'm going to be rooting for them alongside team America.
This is their Finals match:

There's no way Neils and Van Den Berg can get runner up for the 3rd time in a row, I'm rooting for them just solely on a feel-good story outcome, they deserve it!

Yes it is about time perennial underachievers 2x finalist Holland and 4x eemifinalist Taiwan win :grin-square:

sad since Mike is the most hated pool player in the US so wont get the backing they need
they have a good chance like 8 other countries

come down to the breaking rules and execution and who dogs under pressure

after watching lose in turning stone and doggin his brains out out to luc salvas its nit hopeful
