Shane losing his #1 Fargo spot

So as of now Filler has tied him for the #1 spot with Fedor hot on their tails. I wonder if Shane gives a shit? I'd love to see a 3 day race between him and Filler.

I wonder how much earlier he would have lost the spot if there were a rolling rating period rather than a weak decay that keeps his old results contributing to his rating forever.

Me too. It would be nice to see a fargorate top 100 list for the top players only based on say, their last 500 or 1,000 games played.
I think the list would look A LOT different.

Shane said somewhere he could care less about Fargo. It was something like “Who cares? It’s not like I get anything from it or they do anything for me.” That was after he dropped out of number one last time. Every pro I’ve heard talk about fargo doesn’t give a shit about it actually.

Rankings are just that. They change from day to day, week to week. I’m sure the drop to number 2 isn’t going to affect him a whole lot.

Agreed. SVB has not won't any important titles in a long, long time. His Fargo Rate remains high because gambling matches are counted and because ancient results are still included in the Fargo calculation. His last wins against elite, internationally diverse, fields were in 2016, during which he won the US Open 9-ball and the Derby City 9-ball. We know Shane has the gear to contend at a moment's notice, but he's not the one to beat right now, and it seems that only Fargo believes he is.

As a gambler, I respect Fargo.
WPA ranking list changes quickly....Ko bros, Big Chang, Wu not to be seen....Shaw is #14.
....Gorst has a few people above him.
Quick changes are unrealistic

It was inevitable. Shane doesn't seem to have that "fire in the belly" like he once had. Seems like he's going through the motions now.
I wouldn't go that far but he's not the kid anymore out to torture the world. His success lets him do what he wants and most pool players would eat broken glass to be in his $$ position. I hope these young run-out artists inspire him to play more. Who knows.

He is not showing up for the major events

Gambling matches are pretty insignificant here.

Where does the idea come from that older data is playing some sort of outsized role? If FargoRate could get better ratings by changing a few lines of code, don't you think FargoRate would do that?

You guys realize that Shane didn't hold the spot just a couple of months ago right? All of this shit about it being old averages is just that. Either others have dropped off or his recent results have improved for him to have retaken the top spot.
