Shane Van Boening v Ko Pin Yi CSI Invitational-July 17) 10ball Race to 21

anyone knows if there is a loop or replay of the match available ?
I couldn't watch it live but still consider to buy it if I can watch it now.
Thanks.

Let the excuses begin :)

It's because it wasn't a race to 1,462 played non-stop with no sleep/food and only allowed five minute water/restroom breaks once every five hours.

But to be a little more serious the truth is just like with Alex verses Shane and any number or other close match ups, these guys probably play close enough that you will never definitively know who is better based on the outcome of one single race no matter how long that race is (including races to 100+). It just tells you who happened to have been ahead at the moment they hit the number they were racing to (which is largely chance if they are fairly equally skilled), or at best it tells you who happened to have been playing better for that one set. When players are close in skill level you can only determine who is truly the better player by playing multiple sets over a period of time.

Wait for another thread.i am sure someone will make excuses for him AGAIN!

It was obvious that Shane was not in top form. He missed many easy shots, something that you rarely see him do. Also, he wasn't breaking well. Looks like he may not have put in the practice hours. Don't blame him either. It was his bday, while in Vegas

If you can't beat 'em, join em!

And this was Ko's first challenge match in the US.
He had a pre-canned excuse too.
He only got here last week. He still has jet lag.

No excuses here. Just making observations based on their play and the events leading up to it. They both made a lot of unforced errors. The misses Shane made were highly uncharacteristic. It's like he hasn't played for weeks or something. Also KO was breaking dry a lot and making errors. That's the reason the match was so closely contested. This one win means nothing except for the fact that Ko got the better of Shane today. Wish they could match up more often.

What I've been saying for ages now.

On another note, it seemed like the big difference is that Shane made a few more bad decisions.

The most notable being a kick shot he played on the 3 late in the match. He could have thinned the ball and played a safety, but instead kicks behind the 8 and makes the 3 leaving himself a kick shot on the 4. Now he didn't have to end up kicking at the 4, but there was no way he was having getting good shape to run out.

When neither player is playing their top speed, it comes down to mistakes. Shane just happened to make more than Ko.

Last time I saw him performing well was in April vs Nikos Ekonomopoulos here in Greece. And both played bad at the World Championship. Lots of mistakes.

While I think Nick is a great player, he's definitely not in Shane's class. Ko Pin Yi is, and so are a lot of Asian players.

I agree with you 100%. And I was sure he would lose that match easily. Lot of guys here in Greece believed that Nick had a chance. I was not one of them........

I really enjoyed that match. While the level of play was shaky at times by both players it was also spectacular at times. It was closely contested and exciting. I hope we get to see more of Ko Pin Yi in the future. I really like his game and his mechanics.

Apparently, to some, anything less than perfect... is bad.

You can play poorly compared to your normal game and still win. Shane finished 5th due to the fact that an opponent played very well and punished him for his mistakes. I believe the other comment meant that Shane would have placed higher if he was playing the way he did vs the Greek.
