It is really a joke when a handful of players can rig the rack and everyone else is struggling to make a ball on the break. This is a huge advantage, especially in winner break format. Why would a European player spend hours trying to figure out how to cheat the rack in order to compete in one tournament per year? Most tournaments are going to a template for the rack, as should the US Open.
Because players like th KO brothers who could easily be a faviort to win this Turny stay home and watch videos ,,

An easy fix would be a rule adjustment prohibiting the player from touching the one ball while racking. Another easy fix would be use the magic rack so everybody has the same rack.
Break and run 19% through day 5 in 2014. Break and run 21% in 2013.
Roughly as many break and run racks as last year when Niels reached the final day.
Sour grapes to me.
You could flip that around and say Mike Dechaine and players who could win the world tournaments, just stay home and dont compete in China or Qatar.
The point he was making is that Shane is #2 in points and #1 in Money, but everyone always says he hasnt won a world championship so he isnt a world champion. But yet he is ranked #2. JB was exposing the irony of the whole situation
If the one ball is on the spot, then the wing ball is wired with the magic rack. Which is why they play the 9 ball on the spot.I spoke with Thorsten Hohmann about this, he says the magic rack becomes a trick shot because the wing ball goes every time. So really its about, most players don't want to spend 5 hours just racking and breaking to master the skill. They want magic rack so they can drop a ball and be on their way.
If they don't participate that's their problem. Shane doesn't win yet he makes more money than everyone else and he is second in the world anyway.Because players like th KO brothers who could easily be a faviort to win this Turny stay home and watch videos ,,

Details make a big difference
Keep it Simple....Took tennis years to get their format right.
It's time to use it.
Sets….best 3 out of 5….Race to 3 or whatever is best....Double elimination.
Lag for who breaks first set....then alternate
Alternate breaker for each set
Alternate racker for each set
Lag when there is a tiebreaker
Do this till match ends
Use Magic Rack
24 second shot clock, one 24 second extension allowed per rack
Bathroom break, one per match.

How about in a MAJOR tournament, being played on only 9 tables, we have trained neutral rackers? It seems so freaking obvious.
I realize that having enough people qualified to do it properly is a challenge, but for just 9 tables it shouldn't be that daunting. Jay is the TD, and there isnt anyone more qualified to make sure said people knew their stuff, well enough to do the job.
I remain baffled as to why this hasn't been implemented.

Must all be because of the break.
I'm a fan of Dennis, but I'm not a fan of his racking.
Here are his first 3 racks,

5,9,6
3,4

8,7

I am also a fan of DO but at the last Swanee he pattern racked and soft broke, neither of which were allowed.
I also donlt understand why a neutral racker is not used.
There was a moment when Antonio Linning was ranked World No.1
Nothing against the guy but he's nowhere in the top ten if we talk about the skills.
He made it to World No.1 by high finish in the majors. That's how the ranking goes.
Back to Shane's racking controversy.
1. Did he break any rule ?
- NO
2. Did the rule say "you have to tight up every ball together" ?
- NO
So, NO, Shane did not cheat.
By the way, the problem is, the rule is and will be never perfect.
How many times did we see a guy got away with his crime ?
How many times did we see company make profit by making their way around the rule ?
That's life. There are written rule and moral rule.
People less and less give a shit about moral rule. Sad !
Sounds good but players would complain the other guy is getting a better rack from the "neutral" racker. After all, it is pool.
Magic rack, 9 on the spot, everybody gets the exact same rack. Best player wins, not the best rack mechanic.
I agree with Bill - this is almost identical to what I proposed to Justin 2-3 years ago. It would solve a lot of the problems and still give us the opportunity to see racks 'strung together'.
Potential here!!!
