my buddys shaft warped on him,he bought the cue brand new, and they said they'd fix it instead of replacing it like they should have. he had to pay postage to and from and the shaft was still warped when he got it back. then they said th best they could do was give him 20% off a new shaft. another friend had a similar problem as yours, shaft exploded during normal play, and they offered I'm the same discount on a new one even though it was their shitty craftsmanship(built in china instead of canada or FL) that caused the thing to explode

Predator told me that my 314 shaft was acceptably warped... LOL, one of the funniest customer service warranty comments ever!! Not worth the paper comment is right on the money...

I have never had to deal with their customer service for repairs or returns, but a few months ago I inquired about getting a Predator Air (old model) from them in an email. They called me back and let me know about the Predator Air 2 coming out soon, before all the hype was on AzB and dealers had info.

So from my experience and everyone elses, it seems they love to sell things, but hate to honor their warranty and repair services.

The problem lies with the consumer. If they have bad customer service, why are we all still buying their products?

I no longer buy predator products for this reason. I played with predator shafts for 5 years - a minimum of 4 shafts. All warped / All were still over 12.5 - never received a replacement, only offers for discounted new shafts.

I had a rant a year or 2 ago swearing off predator for good.

This may have been over the top in hindsight. If they changed their policies I may try them again.

If memory serves, the best approach was to contact the local predator rep and work through him / her.

Some people get replacements and some people get the "shaft".

Every time I have seen a warranty issue with Predator on here it was something bad, but you just need to contact them and see.

From playing with a bunch of different LD shafts (none mine, just trying things out), the best ones I have seen for solid hit and feel are the custom LD shafts by cuemakers and also the cheap Players HXT shafts. Solid construction, they don't feel dead in the hit and also are not lighter than normal (every Predator I have tried on my cue and my son's cue changed the balance of it).

If you get no-where with Predator I suggest you find an LD shaft from a custom maker. I can recommend Mike Webb for his LD shafts from experience, a friend of mine played with a Predator shaft and I hated how his cues felt. He switched to the Mike Webb shaft, and the cues immediately felt better, yet did not cause him to change his aim.

To play Devil's Advocate, I have a 314-2 delaminate, meaning the glue in the shaft was starting to fail. They sent me a new shaft on the spot, I just had to pay to ship it to them, they shipped me a brand new shaft free of charge.

Made it a lot easier to sell since it was not a used shaft anymore. :D

My predator 314/2 shaft split at the ferrule and they replaced the shaft free of charge.

the past two posts are what I was referring to:

Some get replacements and some get the "shaft".

No consistency in the application of their warranty.

Hey Dave M, I agree with you completely especially the last line. I never bought another Predator product and switched back to playing with the shafts that come with the cues I play with. One is from Dave Kikel, the other from Joe Gold.

That's what I've been doing. I'd rather the shaft that came with my cue; I'm not fond of my Erwin shaft, so I'm getting another maker to make me a shaft soon.

Support the little guys, not the big name outsourcers!

Thanks everyone for the help and advice I'm gonna get in contact with them today and see what they tell me

I returned mine with a snapped ferrule and they promptly repaired it and sent it back. This was many years ago but I never had a problem dealing with them at all.

I've seen dozens of their shafts delaminate, warp, come apart a bit, and flat out EXPLODE on a hard break. Predator has never done ANYTHING for ANY of the people that I know that have had issues. IMO, your best best is to call them, but don't hold your breath. When it's done and you're pissed, go buy an OB and be happy.

I've heard reps tell players not to break with their 314's and Z2's, but isn't the BK/BK2/BK3 shaft is laminated the same?

I've personally witnessed a Z2 shaft fly apart when someone broke with a heavy CB on a barbox.

Predator has replaced every shaft I've ever sent them...no questions asked.

With OB...you better have that little pad behind the tip or you're screwed.

With Joss...LOL...they will never replace a shaft once you chalk the tip.:grin-square:

I've never had a problem with McDermott.

It's all who you know and how you ask for something like anything else in life.:wave2:

Frankly, anyone moronic enough to break with a Z2 deserves everything they get, especially if it's a heavy CB.

It's idiots like them that make the rest of us get shafted.
