Hi. I had a cue stolen out of the shipping container by usps.. They tried to deliver an empty tube. Customer caught it and refused delivery. They sent the empty tube back to me. I had to take it to my local post office for them to inspect the tube. They gave me a letter stating I had it packaged correctly. I submitted that letter with proof of purchase on the cue. You have to have a receipt on the cue or they won't pay. They refunded the full insured amount. Takes a little while though, but they will pay. Hope this helps. Thanks, Ron.

What Patrick said. UPS is the best deal and pirateship gets it for you.
UPS fees went up. That price is not bad. If it gets there on time and received in proper condition the price is well worth it. Please follow up

Well, I just got hit with additional shipping charges from UPS on these 2nd cut shafts I've been selling that some of you know about. Usually when I print my own label it's roughly $10 to $15 dollars. I've made about 8 shipments lately and the last two were hit with $24.00 and $23.50 additional handling for shipping in tubes that was debited from my PayPal acct.
So I called UPS and they did credit the charges but pointed me to their web page; "How To Avoid Shipping Charge Corrections" linked below.
These additional charges were because I've been shipping in 2" tubes. Under "Additional Handling" there's a bullet point that says:

I use PirateShip exclusively now and it is usually for USPS. It is discounted below the regular in-store prices. Also, if I'm shipping a book, I can buy and print the media mail label at home, which the USPS does not offer. The USPS does have an on-line way to buy shipping postage for normal items, but the PirateShip interface and features are much better for what I do.
As for shipping in tubes -- it's a really, really bad idea. All the handling is automated. Tubes don't work on conveyor belts. Eventually a janitor may find where the tube has rolled to.
I duct tape and maybe use silicon adhesive to attach the tube to the inside of the box. That keeps the tube from being removed. Either the package gets there or it's lost.... The receiver does not get an empty package, (cue missing)

i only use the post office as they are all federal employees and face federal charges if they steal something along with losing big pensions.
the two others hire all kinds they havent even vetted and dont care what happens to your package as no skin off their back.
box and wrap so no one can open in minutes with little evidence of it. ill pay the higher rates to insure my package gets there. without buying insurance to indicate my package is expensive.

Very similar situation to mine. Over 9 months ago. Lost. Limbo. Package pops up often enuf on their radar to keep me from collecting on insurance, but not often enuf to deliver it. Strange.
They keep telling me my package tracked to so and so city, in transit. Over and over. Ad infinitum ad nauseum.
Maybe back in May, I don't remember clearly.
Plus 1 for Pirateship. If you ship only one package in your entire life, it's worth making the account. It often discounts UPS and USPS (your choice) about half.
Besides the discount, their user interface gives both the UPS and USPS website the 5 out.

Amazon has good prices on the rectangular boxes in bulk. Way cheaper than the shipping brick and mortar stores. For finished cues, I like putting a smaller round tube inside of the 4x4 shipping tube, for double wall protection.

If you ever bought from Seyberts .... Their tubes are incredibly strong. I use one when I shipped a cue to Proficient and got the cue back in a USPS triangle box... The cues was wrapped with newspaper. I passed out!
