Should there be full disclosure in PPV matches?

Do the Ko's not have any money of their own? I keep hearing how their backing for DCC fell through, but hell, even with entry, room, and food that's not much and I assume they'd want all of themselves in the tourneys. Doesn't make any sense. I thought all of these so called Asian champions were rolling and it seems like they are scufflers. The next thing you know they'll be robbing car washes and playing $5 8-ball at the local bar.

As for my thoughts on the full disclosure, absolutely everything should be disclosed. The money in the middle, is the player getting staked, match rules, etc..., etc...All of that is extremely important when deciding who to bet on, which in turn makes a large percentage of ppv buyers want to buy the stream.

Too bad these asian guys doesn't have a huge fan base in china/taiwan. It would be awesome if ppv could get 1K viewers from their homeland.

I think even shane vs efren on TAR, there wasn't 500 paid viewers.

Time differential is tough. It started at 6AM TAIWAN time.

So there are inconsistencies in timeframe
French says they starting talking on deal during the KPY-DO match
On stream, he mentioned he has been putting this together for 6 months
Then Finnegan says French and Ko talked on deal after the match

The whole deal is clown shoes.

I think he was referring to Jason Shaw.

Yes you are probably right

i actually tot at first that he was referring to Alison Fischer (the writer/editor) whom he announced that is signing up on the stream :D

I really believe this was just a simple hiccup in trying to keep the match from falling through.

When I spoke to Mandy at Turning Stone, she explained that the Ko's were being backed by a close friend in Texas. Through all of this, and Mr French's explanation letter, there wasn't any mention of this Texas backer.

It all seems to me that the match was scheduled, the Ko's are here, and something happened to their backing. So French and Dennis decided to keep the match as scheduled, and French would back the Ko's for DCC.

Was there any money in the pot from Ko's original backer? Probably not, since the Ko's don't come off as nefarious or deceiving. They just want to play pool. And French is making it happen.

The rest was just a bad result of lacking PR skills.

This is all speculation on my part, except the point of the Texas backer. I do remember hearing about him.

They might have been playing for a percentage that was posted for show up money

Look.... My buddy and I were going to back Ko but we did not come to an agreement when it came to the money. Ko's backer did not back the match and from my understanding neither did Ko.

^^^^^^ This would be the guy from Texas...

Interesting how this whole "outrage" has quieted considerably in the last couple days...

Pretty normal. The average attention span here is about a week maybe two tops. Not saying that in a mean way its just what I have noticed over the years. At this point I don't really see much more that will come of it. Everyone is focused on the Derby. I think we will see more people in the future asking questions about the details of these super matches.

What was the full disclosure on the Shane vs Dennis race to 100 TAR match a few years ago.

I think Dennis had a 5K side bet with Shane also?

Side bets don't need to be disclosed to a PPV viewer or as a means to advertise. What needs to be disclosed is IF a match is touted as 10k a man and is really just an exhibition with a jelly to the winner.

I don't remember the details of that match. Whatever it was advertised as was what it was though. The beauty of telling the truth is you dont have to remember lies. Anything bet on the side had nothing to do with TAR and was not any of my business to make public.

What is the difference between a challenge match that is advertised as $20,000 but is really for a much smaller amount, and a match that is advertised as $20,000 but has behind-the-scenes backers that means the players are playing for a much smaller amount of their own money?
